Democrats Block Energy Bill Allowing Building Of New Refineries

And for you North Dakota readers, our Representative Earl Pomeroy voted against it as well.

House Republicans pushed the No More Excuses Energy Act to the floor through a discharge petition.  The Act would have eliminated barriers to building new refineries in the United States along with instituting other measures to generally make it easier to produce gasoline domestically.

Democrats voted it down because apparently they don’t think we have a problem with gas prices in this country.  Or, at least, they aren’t very serious about fixing that problem.

Comments

That needs to be hammered home and if I was Sand I would be all over that. Pomeroy out of touch with the mainstream voting with the Beltway Liberals to oppose drilling. Hey aren’t we trying to build a refinary here in ND?

What is it the dims. don’t get?
The truckers can hardly make a living delivering goods across the country because of fuel prices, airlines are can’t afford to keep their fleets airbore because of fuel prices and the average american is in a big fix with paying a big chunk of their pay check for fuel to just get to and from work.
We’re sending out money to countries that could cut off our fuel supply at any time the wish.
What happened to the “common sence plan” to reduce fuel prices the dems where talking about during the last election?
There just seems to be NO common sence with dems.

The Democrats are very concerned about gas prices. They’re concerned that if any of these common sense measures that will increase domestic oil production get passed before November, Americans will start to see a light at the end of the tunnel of high gas prices.

They’d rather have Americans suffer at the gas pumps and take it in the shorts than allow the GOP to score a political victory that would also greatly benefit our country and our economy.

The Dems in Massachusetts did the exact same thing to Romney when he was governor. Romney wanted to merge some state transportation agencies to save money, the Dems said it was foolish and blocked his efforts.

Romney wanted to end the state’s archaic reulated auto insurance industry. The Dems attacked the idea as racist, claiming minority drivers would suffer untold harm.

Once Romney moved out and Deval “Cadillac” Patrick moved into the corner office, suddenly all these Dems in leadership positions are praising Patrick as some kind of “progressive” visionary for proposing the EXACT SAME IDEAS.

But, why improve the quality of life for the little people when the other party’s guy is in the corner office?

Reprehensible scumbags, the lot of ‘em.

Bruce, Hello.  I just posted on your site.  Good summary, and you live in Taxachusetts?  Sorry.  I wonder what the tipping point will be to elect some conservatives up there?  When Teddy stops bankrolling the unions for big digs?

Too many ignorant remarks regarding gas and oil. Oil is a comodity. Like gold, it’s price varies with world demand. Highest bidder gets it, and that includes any from ANWAR. Having more in our country doesn’t make it cheaper unless there is government control. More refinery capacity won’t lower gas prices. If there is a need for more refining then why doesn’t somebody build a refinery on the Mexican side of the border? The Gov can’t stop that. Obvious answer: not enough profit.

First, Rob, your link goes to the rollcall vote on the NASA funding appropriation.

Next, willard, keep spewing those Democrat talking points. As for building in Mexico? You leftarded morons are in charge in Mexico and refuse to allow any maintenance or new construction, moron.
