Democrats Manufacture A Narrative About The Farm Bill

Yesterday I wrote about a Grand Forks Herald editorial suggesting Senate candidate Rick Berg’s campaign woes stem from the inability of Republicans and Democrats to come to terms over a farm bill in Congress.
Today Bloomberg has a lengthy feature piece about the exact same topic. How supposed Republican obstruction of the farm bill (apparently it’s not “obstruction” when Democrats lard up the farm bill with a bunch of decidedly non-farm spending the nation can’t afford) is helping Senate Democrats.
Just a coincidence? Not likely. This is how a narrative is manufactured. Democrats pitch it to the media, knowing that the farm bill is a better topic for them than the national debt or the economy, and the media picks up the ball and runs with it.
This consternation about the farm bill isn’t coming from voters. It’s coming from Democrats who want to invent an issue other than spending or job creation into these races.
