This sort of thing, coupled with all the “they’re dressing like Hitler” stuff, and you wonder why Democrats act surprised when the people at the town hall meetings are angry.

Just more evidence to indicate that they aren’t really listening. They just don’t care what you have to say.
Keep it up, Democrats. Keep insulting your constituents. Keep saying that anyone who disagrees with you is a Nazi or un-American.

It is not a stand alone health care plan Shelia, it is a government run, non-profit plan and no private insurance company will be able to compete with a national non-profit plan!

I could care less about the cell phone, we know they disrespect us, what I want to hear more often and louder and demanded by the American people is this: If this new health care plan is so great for the American people, then why won’t every elected respresentative, appointed official, their staffs and every federal emloyee be required to join that plan?

Make them all answer that question! Don’t let up! Why? Once their hypocrisy is apparent, they will have to abandon National Health Care. Even liberals should ask that question, if they have any honesty.

I suggest you go to your local republican congressman/woman and ask to talk to them in person. If you are denied access to your republecan congressman/woman tell their staff:

If she needed to take an important call, she could have said so and put the meeting on hold for a few moments.

Notice how she motions for the lady to continue while she continues her phone conversation? It was either a call that could have waited, or she didn’t see the importance of giving her constituents full attention when they’re speaking.

She should have had her phone off or handed it to a staffer during the meeting and only life-death calls should be brought to her attention, she should not indicate to the woman keep on talking while I half ignore you and multi-task, and if it was an urgent call, she should have asked the patience of those attending and stepped out of the auditorium.

I know if I got a call about my dying grandmother, I wouldn’t be half listening to it and half listening to the crowd. I’d ask to be excused. If it was that serious, I’d beg the forgiveness of the crowd, but tell them there was a family emergency that required my attention and that, with their good graces, we’d reschedule the meeting. If it was something I could handle on the phone, I’d ask for a brief recess to handle a problem that required my attention.

The “answering the phone” trick is an old way to stop talking to someone you don’t want to. So either it was an ignorant ploy, or complete rudeness to the people in attendance.

The fact of the matter is their are a large number of important calls that have varying degrees of severity that she could be justified for picking up the phone and then quickly getting off once she found it was not as important as it could have been.

If she had let an emergency go by so she could talk to a nutter, you would all have her head if something was neglected.

I don’t think anyone is criticizing her for having to take a possibly important call. What you fail to see is the inappropriate manner in which she did so. If she needed to answer a call in the middle of “listening” to her audience, then she should have excused herself and asked for a brief pause to be able to do so.
