Democrat Senator: The Era Of “Traditional Values” And “Strong Foreign Policy” Are Over
Frankly, I’m more worried about the foreign policy comment than the “traditional values” comment.
To some extent, he’s right. If Republicans think they can ride issues like gay marriage, public religious displays and school prayer into majorities again they’re fooling themselves. The time when those were valid planks for a national platform is over.
But I’m not sure that’s exactly what Schumer meant. I think Schumer meant is, essentially, “we’re all liberals now.” We’re all in favor of tying most of our wealth up in government so that it can try and solve every problem under the sun. We all share the same dogmatic liberal values. Etc., etc.
And he’s wrong about that, of course, as the hundreds of thousands (millions? we’ll see) who will be attending the tax day tea parties around the country can attest to.
Ever since Obama’s election triumphant liberals have been telling fiscal conservatives that our time is over, and we all may as well go jump in a lake. But that’s more what Schumer and his fellow liberals want than what is, in fact, reality. Tags: Asshats, Domestic Issues, Politics
