Democrat Re-Election Strategy: Run On Obamacare

All the major polls are showing majority opposition to Obamacare. To pass this unpopular load of crap Democrats have had to bribe and coerce Senators and Representatives around the country into betraying their constituents on this issue.
And now they think they’re going to ride it to re-election?

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been telling Democrats a win on the health issue will reverse the slide in public opinion, just as passage of another controversial proposal, the North American Free Trade Agreement, lifted President Bill Clinton in the polls…
“The reality, I think, will trump poll numbers in the dead of winter as this debate is going on,” White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”…
“If Democrats want to run on this, then we invite them to go ahead and do so. The Obama-Pelosi agenda continues to feed into the emerging 2010 narrative that this is a Congress that spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much,” Ken Spain, communications director of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said Sunday…
The Democratic leadership is particularly relying on a health victory as other domestic priorities struggle. The failure of the United Nations climate summit to reach a binding accord could cripple Mr. Obama’s chances of securing legislation to limit greenhouse-gas emissions, even after many House Democrats took a politically painful vote for legislation to cap carbon emissions.

Well, at least this is a marginally better strategy than the whole “blame Bush” thing. Trying to spin something they’ve done into a positive is somewhat more honest and believable than trying to blame everything they’ve done since coming into office on the guy who was in office before.

I wouldn’t worry to much about the CNN poll. I could put a poll on rush Limbaugh or Fox News and it would read differently. I think the left is starting to crack under the pressure. The public not being able to work or the rise of everyones taxes and prices will quickly drop them like a rock. Don’t take the threats to heart also after all we still have Alec Baldwin still in the country (LOL).

Whatever. The public may never understand the healthcare bill. But they will get sick of being unemployed, underemployed, and otherwise having their standard of living decline.

then there’s this from CNN polling: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/21/cnn-poll-6-point-jump-in-support-for-health-care-bill/

Both Obama’s approval and the health care support are trending upward which is bad news for the GOP. Once the bill is passed and the public begins to really understand those numbers, I believe will continue to improve.

This is indeed what the GOP fears.

I believe Bob Dole was a supporter of NAFTA as well, and a much less telegenic candidate.

AND if I’m not mistaken while NAFTA may have helped Clinton (I think it wasn’t a negative); it didn’t do a thing for the Democrats in Congress which is our immediate concern.

The 80s and 90s when we had record growth?

  • sayanything-4416

They should have thought about that when they were electing republicans in the 80s and 90s and 00s.

The taxes kick in long before the promised benefits do; good luck with that “strategy!” LOL!

The debt, the deficit, the whole, ugly, stinking pile of failure is the result of the conservatism that dominated this country for 30 years.

    Sorry. That’s the truth.
