Democrat: McCain Is Too Military And Thus Too Dangerous

First it was the Democrats lying about President Bush’s National Guard service and saying he didn’t have enough military experience. Now the Democrats are trying to say that McCain has too much of a military background. And that it’s “dangerous.”

Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, “and he has a hard time thinking beyond that,” Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.
“I think he’s trapped in that,” Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. “Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The Democrats aren’t going to get anywhere by attacking John McCain’s military record. The only constituency that appreciates such attacks is the liberal left, and the Democrats already have them locked up. By engaging in this sort of attack the only thing the Democrats are going to do is unify moderate to conservative Republicans in defense of McCain against these attacks despite their doubts about McCain as a leader.
It’s one thing to dislike McCain’s policies . It’s another to stand by and watch the guy get unfairly bushwhacked by a bunch of liberals trying to undermine his proud and admirable military service.
Besides, with the far-left Obama being the likely nominee and already pulling the Democrats to the left this election cycle they can hardly afford to come off as a bunch of military-hating liberals with these sorts of attacks on McCain.

You guys freakin invented the concept of trashing politicians for military service.

By which one must assume he refers to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. These men, who served with Kerry in Vietnam, took issue with his exaggerated claims, e.g. “Christmas in Cambodia” etc.

Note also that to date, Kerry has NOT released a full copy of his records (granting access only to a limited selection of tame media outlets). Were he to do so, we’d all see that he had bad paper on his discharge from the Naval Reserve which was subsequently upgraded during the Carter amnesty.

The fabulist in the case of John Kerry vs. the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was Kerry.

Too funny! When John “Rose Thorn Purple Heart” Kerry (D) runs for president, even three months of military service was a good, even an essential thing! Now that Barack “My Friends Stomp on the Flag and Damn America” Obama is running, being a veteran is a sign of some pathological weakness.

The irony is compounded, when you consider that Tom Harkin used to brag (falsely) about being a “fighter pilot” in Viet Nam. And that virtually every President in the history of the Republic has been a military veteran!

Is it possible that any person who has been in the same occupation for many years is bent or biased, or, perhaps mentally tilted to certain thinking and cannot be trusted to be in charge of anything? Like some of our senators and representatives who have been in government (on the public payroll) for all their working life–maybe their thinking is suspect, as well. Some names come to mind—-Kennedy, Byrd, Dorgan, Conrad, Pelosi, Reid, and a host of others. Maybe the Supreme Court, as well. Term limits, anyone???

“Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?”

Liberals forget their own history and arguments.

    We don’t.

Yeah, any damnation from Tom “I lied about my military service” Harkin is a little hard to not giggle at. He’s probably actually jealous that McCain got all that good press because he was shot down and held captive. Just another leftist retard, seriously, could they crap on the military any more.
