Democrat Health Care Bill Will Mean Sky-High Premiums

Which is sort of the point, right? They “reform” health care to make it cheaper. But it really gets more expensive. So then we get more “reform” to subsidize/mandate/control health care even more.
And in the end? We’re all on government-run health care.

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats have provided few details about their latest health care proposal, but this much seems clear: Anyone who wants to buy the same health benefits as members of Congress, or to buy coverage through Medicare, should be prepared to fork over a large chunk of cash.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, a family of four earning $54,000 in 2016, when the health legislation is fully in effect, would be eligible for a subsidy of $10,100 to help defray the cost of insurance under the health legislation being debated by the Senate. By then, one of the most popular federal plans, a nationwide Blue Cross and Blue Shield policy, is projected to cost more than $20,000.
That could leave the family earning $54,000, slightly more than the current median household income, with monthly premium costs of more than $825.
The Democrats’ proposal would also allow some people ages 55 to 64 to “buy in” to Medicare, starting in 2011. That could cost about $7,600 a year per person or $15,200 for a couple, according to a budget office analysis of an earlier version of the concept. No subsidies would be available until 2014.

Wasn’t the genesis of this health care debate about health care being too expensive for people to afford and making it cheaper?
So, the end result of the health care bill is more expensive premiums?
Hope for change.

$825 monthly premiums and $825 extra monthly taxes to pay for their own subsidy (actually, probably more than that because the average family of four earning $54,000 will most likely be helping to partially subsidize at least one lower income family).

A cynic would say that the Democrats are doing everything they can to make the health care more unaffordable to justify their dreams of taking it over, hospitals, doctors and nurses.

I think that’s exactly what their plan is.

Yet the left is dead set on ruining this country. It’s going to take the next administration a long time to undo all of the crap the dems are jamming down our throats.

And then come the words we all dread, I am from the Government and am here to help!

Well, the plan that we end up with had to be modified and diluted to please the conservative democrats.

But we’ll see reform that we can modify and expand over the years until we reach the real goal. Just like conservatism did over 30 years. Of course, that incrementalism ended in disaster, though. Like all conservative policies.

“Destroying the government” is exactly what Obama’s heroes, Cloward and Piven advocated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloward%E2%80%93Piven_strategy

  • sayanything-4416

And I think the conservative plan was always to destroy the government which is why the spent us into a corner and rendered the government ineffective with cronyism.

Republicans and industry insiders are passing around today’s polls, highlighting the lack of support Democratic reform plans have. By far the most mentioned in my inbox is today’s CNN poll. Here’s the highlights, or lowlights depending on your perspective, from CNN.

    CNN:

36 percent favor the Senate bill while 61 percent oppose it.
79 percent said the bill would increase the deficit, 19 percent said it wouldn’t.
85 percent said the bill would increase their taxes, 14 percent said it wouldn’t.

The numbers cannot be ignored by Congress.
