Democrat Civility: Joel Heitkamp Down To Making Fat Jokes

Late this morning I got several emails/texts from friends and readers telling me that Joel Heitkamp, brother to liberal Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp, had made a crack at my expense today.

From what I gather, he told his producer (who was apparently getting a link from one of the listeners that rebutted something Heitkamp said on air) to make sure it wasn’t from “a certain hairy, fat blogger who doesn’t fact check.”

I didn’t listen to the comments (I’m not sure I’ve ever bothered to listen to more than a few minutes of anything Joel Heitkamp has ever broadcasted), but that’s what I got from multiple sources.

I’m more amused than insulted.  I’ve been called worse.  Heck, the Fargo Forum called me “portly” not so long ago.  It makes me laugh a bit that these people feel so threatened that they have to resort to grade-school taunts to try to undermine those dissenting their views.  I am fat.  I am hairy.  But I’m usually right about the facts (even if there is disagreement about the conclusions I draw from those facts) and that’s what bugs Heitkamp.

By the way, can you imagine what Heitkamp would say if I made a comment about his sister’s weight or looks?  He’d be ranting into his microphone about a “war on women” like the enormous hypocrite he is.

Politically speaking, I think Heidi’s brother is doing more harm to her campaign than good (though, admittedly, I’m saying that as someone who doesn’t bother to listen).  I think Heitamp enjoys a sort of Howard Stern effect in North Dakota.  Most don’t really like him, but they tune in because the like not liking him.

If Heitkamp and his far-left views were mainstream in North Dakota the Democrats would have majorities instead of being the thoroughly marginalized party they are.
