Dem Senate Candidate Heidi Heitkamp Now Quoting Republican Talking Points
3:43pm
Back in January of this year, during a meeting of the Energy and Power subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Republican Rep. Joe Barton referenced WWII in commenting on how long the Obama administration has delayed the Keystone. “[W]e fought and won World War II in less time than it’s taken so far to evaluate this project,” Barton said. “I mean, with all due respect, it is an insult to the American people to say that you need more time.”
Here’s the video:
What’s interesting is that during last night’s candidate forum on health care and energy issues sponsored by the ND Chamber of Commerce, Democrat Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp said the exact same thing about the Keystone Pipeline.
Heitkamp said the federal Environmental Protection Agency director and energy secretary should be replaced. She also disagreed with the Obama administration’s rejection of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. If “we fought a World War in 3 1/2 years,” the government should be able to review and approve a shovel-ready pipeline project in that time, she said.
Clearly, Heitkamp thinks that a candidate has to sound and act like a Republican to get elected in North Dakota. The question is, why wouldn’t voters cast their ballots for an actual Republican, and not a Democrat who just started behaving like one when it was time to run for the Senate?
