Deconstructing a Smear

The Media seems rather slow to learn...

The blogosphere has been catching the media left, right, and center playing fast and loose with raw data. The lesson should have been clear after Dan Rather got caught in the act. Reuter's Fauxtography debacle should have been instructive.

Nope.

Instead AP has been caught spinning madly in their "reporting" on Secretary Rumsfeld's address already blogged about here.

AP takes the hatchet to Rumsfeld speech

Interesting little side by side here. Donald Rumsfeld gave a speech to the American Legion. You can read it here. Robert Burns from AP reported on the speech. You can read it here. Below are some comparisons from the story and the speech.

The drive to emulate the buggy whip industry continues apace.

Its not that they won’t learn. Their complete disregard of the fact that they keep repeatedly getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar is simply elitist arrogance. They feel that there is nothing for them TO learn.

It will catch up to them, sooner rather than later. Louie XVI and Marie were elitist snobs who assumed that the unwashed rabble couldn’t touch them either.
