DC Madam Takes Down Republican, Hurts Rudy Giuliani’s Campaign

So the DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, has released her “little black book” of phone numbers (available on the internet here if you can get it to load) and the first to go down is Louisiana’s Sen. David Vitter.

What’s interesting is that Vitter was Rudy Giuliani’s Southern Regional Chair:

The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee today announced that Senator David Vitter will serve as the Southern Regional Chair. Senator Vitter will help lead the campaign’s efforts to build support in the south and in the United States Senate.

In announcing his endorsement, Senator David Vitter touted Giuliani’s leadership and reputation as a proven problem-solver. “Rudy Giuliani has the strong, unwavering leadership and sound judgment we need in this time of war and terrorist threat. His performance under the extreme pressure of September 11th proves he is the determined leader our country needs to face today’s challenges head-on.”

“I believe the Republican Party needs to always be the party of free market economics and reform. Rudy implemented those principles as Mayor of New York by cutting taxes 23 times, making government more efficient and moving welfare recipients into jobs. It’s exactly the kind of conservative reform the federal government needs,” Vitter concluded.

I say “was” because the Giuliani campaign has, perhaps not surprisingly, taken the webpage that formerly held the above announcement off the internet.

There is little chance of Sen. Vitter being “frog walked” from his home in any sort of an arrest as the statute of limitations for any crimes he may have committed will almost assuredly have run out by now.  But Vitter could well resign from the Senate leaving his replacement to be named by Democrat Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.

The Democrats hold only a slim majority in the Senate.  If Vitter goes and Blanco puts in another Dem (as you know she would) Joe Lieberman’s going to get shoved over to the margins by Harry Reid.  Currently the Dems walk on eggshells around Joe as, should he switch parties and caucus with the Republicans, the Dems would lose their majority.  They wouldn’t have to worry about that with a new Democrat taking a seat in Louisiana.

Regardless, what a fool Vitter is.  He ran a “family values” campaign to get elected, railing against gay marriage as an affront to the institution of marriage.  Apparently not considering dalliances with hookers to also be an affront to marriage.  I hope this jerk does resign in disgrace, political consequences be damned.

Update: Here’s Vitter apologizing for a “very serious sin.”

He’s pretty much admitted to having sex with a hooker, given his reference to a “sin” and asking forgiveness from his god and his wife.

Bad news not just for the Republicans in general but for Louisiana. Vitter is a good representative and now, of course, the left and their media lap dogs will be on him like jackals on a wounded antelope. It will be a feeding frenzy that has already begun.

I’m not defending his stupidity. Anyone in the fishbowl of public service who is stupid enough to engage in illicit - and potentially public - behavior just needs to take what they get.

When all the names are released I wonder how many demos will be on that list. And what the left’s take on THAT will be. And by the way, if there aren’t any demos on the list wouldn’t that be a bit….suspicious? Are republicans the only politicians who pop wood now and then?

I wonder how many politicians will get caught up on this.  I’d expect some from both sides of the aisle.

We really need to get new blood in Washington from top to bottom.

I think there will undoubtedly be some from both sides.  But we’ll hear about all the Republicans first.

The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

Vitter ought to make the necessary public apologies, deal with his wife a best he can, and get his campaign signs out in as many yards as possible.

After all, Lousianians re-elected Democrat William “Cold Cash” Jefferson last time.  Besides, its just about sex.

Of the 2000 names she claims to have in her little black book, why are we only hearing one?

Dames and Gents,
In times unprecedented and tinged with despair, it is appropriate to reflect on the founding of our great nation. It was not with George Washington, but with Brutus, and not the one who killed Caeser. There was another who rebelled against the tyrant monarchy of Rome, The Tarquins. He wrote the Roman Constitution that would stand for 500 years. His sons sided with the monarchy. The monarchy lost. So to punish his sons and found a perfect union, he immolated his own sons.
Machiavelli speaks fluently and voluminoulsy and voiciferously on this subject, in ‘The Discourses’, and yet is proved wrong on several counts by the miracle of America.
He says that a nation founded in servitude, as America was a colony, will never win its freedom. He also says that a nation founded on fertile soil that is easily defended, will in time loose all of its freedoms because it will become, eventually, inevitably, sloth and sated, and will forget to protect them.
As regards ‘The DC Madam’, I am personally involved. You can view my involvement at http://www.maytheygetwhattheydeserve.com/KAT.html
Sometimes a mouse will lead you to a kat, and a kat can lead you to a rat and a rat, ironically, can lead you to the truth.
And the truth, as they say, and as it is written, will set you free.
May all those who sincerely and patiently wait for freedom be free and may all those who desire to steal those freedoms find instead the dire consequences that accompany contempt for a great man like Brutus.
As regards Machiavelli,
eram sapiens tamen nefas
And again,
vox vocis publicus est vox vocis deus
May The Republic stand forever and bring the Glory of The World, with Dignity, into Its Treasury.
