David Duke Says Obama Is No Worse Than Clinton Or McCain

Times, apparently, they are a-changin’.

David Duke, noted racist, doesn’t seem to mind that Barak Obama may be the next President of the United States:

Yet, far from railing at Obama’s rise, Duke seems almost nonchalant about it. Self-described white nationalists like himself, he explained cordially, “don’t see much difference in Barack Obama than Hillary Clinton--or, for that matter, John McCain.” Sure, Duke considers Obama “a racist individual,” citing his Afrocentric Chicago church. But soon the founder of the National Association for the Advancement of White People was critiquing Obama as overhyped and insubstantial in terms you might hear from, say, Clinton strategist Mark Penn. “They say he’s for change. What change? He’s become almost a cult figure. I don’t see any shining light around Obama’s head. I don’t see any halos,” Duke said.

Sure, we may not see David Duke strolling around with The Audacity of Hope under his arm any time soon. But his mild tone is still a curious reaction to what white supremacists have long considered a sign of racial apocalypse. “Does Race Still Matter?” asks the latest issue of US News & World Report, which features Obama on its cover. Undoubtedly, it does. But, thus far, Obama is largely delivering on his promise as a post-racial candidate--and hilariously confounding the worldview of white supremacists at the same time.

If your feet are cold it’s not climate change, it’s hell freezing over.

People still listen to what David Duke says?  Oh, wait, it’s TNR, nevermind.

Duke fell off the couch while napping at the TNR offices.

The couch under the sign that says “Wake in case of threat to the Confederacy”.

Maybe David Duke realizes that he’s actually a spiritual soul-mate to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor.

Maybe David Duke realizes that he’s actually a spiritual soul-mate to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor.

That’s one of the most ridiculous and reprehensible comments I’ve ever read. It’s simply absurd. If you want to throw around lucacy like this you’re perfectly welcome to do so, but no one will take you seriously.

Besides, I think white power goons are covered by Godwin’s Law.

Jack:

My statement may be hyperbolic but I hardly think it’s either rediculous or reprehensible.

Both David Duke and Rev. Wright galvanize their supporters by rallying those supporters around the flag of race. I think this practice is reprehensible whether it is done by a goofy efiminate white guy dressed in sheets (Duke), a Hispanic college professor at UC Berkeley, or a popular minister in Chicago.

Rev. Wright clearly has animosity against whites in general, and against Jews in particular. Here are some example of extreme positions taken by Wright.

1. His church has given an award to Louis Farrakhan, America’s pre-eminant anti-semite.

2. He’s called Israel a racist state, and considers all of Israel t be Palestinian territory.

3. He said the 9/11 attacks were caused by AMerican racism.

4. His church requires members to adopt a “black value system” that rejects freee enterprise and aspirations to middle class.

5. He mocked Natalie Holloway as a girl who died because she was “giving it up” (aka beeing promiscous) in Aruba.

6. His church directs members to have allegience to Africa first and formost (not America).

I would contend that these are all extremist positions. I for one don’t think that it’s healthy for leaders to be to be rallying anyone around any racial banner. It didn’t have positive results in Yugoslavi; It didn’t have positive results in Rwanda; and it’s not going to have good results in America.

The truth is that David Duke is a clown. His entire national following consists of a few dozen embittered clerks working the night shift a gas stations and mini-markets. The Rev. Wright has thousands of followers who take his exclusionary message to heart.

I’m sorry my original statement offended you, but it was meant to be humorous while based in truth. There is nothing I like more than a friendly exchange of ideas.

Wing Chun Geologist,

You have to remember that it is ok for non-Whites to be racist, because it is owed to them.  At least that is what I keep hearing.

I must admit in regards to Mr Wright (anyone who preaches hate is not a reverend in my book, Jaskon and Sharpton are you listening?)it scares me what this man is capable of doing. He already has a member of his congregation running for President, and none of the main newspapers talk about Barak Hussein Obama’s supporters.
