Cult Of Obama: Get Your Barack Obama Commemorative Plate Now!

It’s a Historic Victory Plate reflecting Obama’s “confident smile and kind eyes” which “are an inspiration to us all.”

This bears a disturbing resemblance to the sort of “dear leader” worship we see in totalitarian countries. It’s scary. It’s dangerous. It has no place in a free society.
Which doesn’t mean I think people shouldn’t be free to buy tacky knick-knacks with the image of The One emblazoned on them, but the attitude it represents is objectionable.

The only people I have noticed calling Obama the Messiah, The One,
the Second Coming, etc are you conservatives. There is nothing creepy about about a man breaking thru a hither-to unattainable barrier. If his message to the world is to inspire people to be all they can be and never back down, that is a good thing. So quit being paranoid and pray that his presidency can indeed repair this nation and bring back dignity and respect to America in the eyes of the world.

Check out this nice commemorative plate spoof: Obama Commemorative Paper Plate

There is nothing creepy about about a man breaking thru a hither-to unattainable barrier.

Only for women, just ask a Democrat why.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

Well for that matter Coke is the One.

but you never saw Nixon shown with a halo. Indeed, one of my earliest memories was seeing a picture of Nixon’s face superimposed over the body of a rat, and in the background B-52′s were Arc-Lighting poor, innocent North Vietnamese women and children.

Not quite the unquestioning adulation Leftards are bowing and scraping before the Mighty Ungawa Obama with.

Does it bother you if I take the name of Obama, your Lord, your God, in vain?

  • Dino

Hey Einstein, Reagan had a republican Senate for 6 of his 8 years. He got his agenda passed because the democrats went along with the popular president and now we’re all feeling the effects of his hands-off, neglectful way of running the country. He’ll not be treated kindly by history.

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

and we are not mocking him, we are mocking YOU…

Well some of both from me….

More mocking of the electorate, and amazement that they could elect someone so unqualified, but also mocking of the recipient and his ability to snow everyone who voted for him, including the far lefties who he is now turning his back on.

Soros is fuming because after Kerry’s bid, he got a t-shirt that said, “I spent $29 million for a president, and all I got was this stupid t-shirt”. and now they are working on his new t-shirt for the 08 election.

Anybody know where I can find a toilet paper holder featuring a pic of Michelle?

No holder, but try this link.

  • robert108

Reagan had a republican Senate for 6 of his 8 years.

Irrelevant; all spending bills originate in the House. You failed your US govt class, didn’t you?

His economy not only rescued us from the Carter debacle, which was worse than what is going on today, but he built the foundation for why Obamunism will be unable to destroy the economy.
    Get help.

  • robert108

I would go for the commemorative toilet paper!

  • Man Train

Wrong again! It was a 4% difference.

    53% – 46% = 7% (Presidential results@MSNBC)

I suppose that could be 4% if you use hillbilly math

  • http://bullwinkleblog.com/ Bullwinkle

I don’t think anyone would accuse Nixon of having a cult of personality.

Wait about 4 years and see if anyone on the Left wil admit they started one for Obama. Buyer’s remorse will have set in by then in all but the stupidest of Leftards (you know, the ones who comment here).

And here’s another video for the stupidest Leftard of all, Ollie.

  • robert108

Another lie from you; President Reagan was never “canonized”, and he united us under the aegis of American values; the Constitution and the founding principles. He had to deal with an entrenched Dem Congress, and he got his agenda passed by persuading them, and the Dem voters, to cooperate with all Americans, and give up their reflexive divisiveness.
You couldn’t be more wrong. I guess you’re ignorant of the “Blue Dog” Dems. President Reagan formed a coalition, contrary to your lie.

  • Man Train

    Dino,

Obama only got 6% more votes than McCain. Not nearly the clean sweep we expected.

The people at McCain/Palin rallies were just repeating the propaganda they heard in the rabid right-wing extremist echo chamber. Do KKK rallies repeat the same stuff?

A little rabid right-wing extremist bird told me that the KKK and Nazis are all about fairness and equality, therefor we would do exactly the opposite. What do you think?

  • robert108

52%-48%=4%, but it’s only a swing of 2%, so you still can’t do simple arithmetic.

  • di butler

    Ollie,

It is not good to build any politician up to a level as high as people are doing with Obama. Not only are they setting themselves up to be disappointed, no one can live up to that hype, but they are making him out to be a savior. He’s not, he’s a man. He may be a very good president, we all pray he is, but he hasn’t even taken office, yet he is purported to be able to “deliver us” from all past failures. That is a scary place to be. BTW, how weird was the little blond girl waving at the plate?

  • ollie-B

Read your post. No intelligent person would see anything to fear in this plate. This is a memento of history.
But, no you do not see it that way. You see it as a way to stir up resentment and fear. As a matter of fact, when you look at many of the fearmongering statements made by you conservatives, it brings to mind how Hitler was able to subjugate his feeble-minded minions to his will.

  • robert108

How come so many voted for Obama?

You’re missing it; the real question is: with the media totally in the tank for Obama, repeating his lies and not questioning his obvious defects, and with McCain running a piss-poor campaign, how come so many voted for McCain?

Fifty-six million Americans didn’t fall for Obamunism.

  • ew

I hope the people who buy junk like this feel stupid when they realize that Obama and the leftist illuminati aren’t as great as they thought they were

  • JazzyKat

How astute of you to bring up Hitler’s subjugation of feeble-minded minions. You pegged it! But, unfortunately you have the wrong group of minions identified. The liberals are the ones worshipping the “One,” not the conservatives. We detest everything the Obamamania liberal chanting crowd stands for!

Subjugation – indeed! I bet you bought a commerative plate of your savior! Except Barack Hussein Obama will not save you, he will enslave you! Enjoy!!!

  • Dino

Odd coming from the people who cannonized reagan for dividing the country into us versus them.

Saint Reagan, the patron saint of deficit spending!

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

You asshats have it all backwards.

Conservatives, indeed Americans of many stripes, honor Reagan for what he did.

Who else could have broken the Soviet Union without breaking out in full-fledged warfare?

He beat the Soviets at their own game — war by proxy, and then built up the front-line defenses, as well as playing our three top trump cards: Freedom, Technology and Economy.

The Soviets could not match us when we finally stood up to them, and they collapsed under the contradictions that had riven the communist system.

Obama, on the other hand, has a track record. And it looks pretty damn weak. Worse than that, he has associated with criminals, Black racists and communist terrorists.

    Obama sucks.

    I mean, really bad.

And we’re not even sure he was born in the States.

This is creepy. So was the Bush worship (see: Peggy Noonan’s, Powerline’s thinly veiled sexual worship of Bush; that totally awesome & mega-kitschy illustration of Jesus sitting next to Bush. That picture cracks me up.)

I think all reasonable people should agree that President worship is creepy.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

Deification of a Dictatorial leader is nothing new.

Kim Jong Il is the Dear Leader

Stalin (literally Steel) was Uncle Joe and, incidently so was Uncle Ho (Chi Mihn).

All, and their forebears, be they Ceasar, Napoleon, Hitler of Mussolini, were the centers of Cults of Personality universes.

Hitler, Mussolini, and their followers have been industrious mythmakers. The near-deification of Hitler by the Nazis and the technique of mass hypnotism of the Germans are things that we, as a democratic people, find it very difficult to understand. To us it is incredible that a fanatical, intense, uneducated Munich agitator, unschooled in economics and politics, should be exalted by mass appeals and terroristic tactics into an all-powerful and “infallible” leader, “Der Führer,” who exacts unquestioned obedience from his people. This “infallibility” that the Nazis have credited to Hitler is bluntly expressed in the words of Robert Ley, the director of the Nazi Labor Front. “Germany must obey like a well-trained soldier,” he said. “The Führer, Adolf Hitler, is always right.”

Hey …. admin question. What’s with all the after-added quote marks?

  • NoJelly

There is nothing creepy about about a man breaking thru a hither-to unattainable barrier.

An unqualified man into the most important position in America? Damn right it’s creepy. I’m still waiting to hear what qualifies him–You been to the “hood” in Chicago lately? There’s your example…

If his message to the world is to inspire people to be all they can be and never back down, that is a good thing.

This is the very stuff of the koolaid mainliners. Did you not get the memo? “All you can be” has been boxed in by the very man you claim to be “inspiring”. Some folks are listening to this guy and they hear the obvious; hypocrasy to the extreme. There is no Messiah, and we are not mocking him, we are mocking YOU…

    -Mark Morford, Columnist,San Francisco Chronicle

I feel like we got a righteous wind at ou backs here.
    -Barack Obama at Virginia Rally

I’ve mentioned on and off for about two years the parallels of FDR Jr’s rhetoric to that of many historical tyrants, not the least to be Adolph, but there are several, including Lenin and Mao. Most folks only know about Hitler’s reign, won’t take the time to educate themselves regarding his rise, which is where The Little Prince is right now.

One of the most disturbing aspects of this kind of rise to power is the unapologetic rationalization for every word said and every act commited (a-la ollie-B’s comments). This is the McDonald’s Age of the push to power, where people used to take 10 or more years to be convinced of a savior we now get it done in two…

I do, however, believe one of his promises; There will be change…

Reagan will be vilified for his free-market lies once this Depression gets cranking.

Another antiAmerican leftie prays for economic disaster. Typical. Fortunately for real Americans, your wish won’t come true. Our economy will survive the lies of Obamunism.
FDR’s commie “New Deal” turned a recession into a depression, which is what you haters want to do again. Won’t happen.
The free market is the natural behavior of human beings when they are free of coercion. Marxism is the lie.

  • Jack

Somehow, it seems appropriate that a company like “The American Historic Society” would be peddling the Obama “VictoryPlate.” Take a gander at this link:

  • robert108

Obama only got 6% more votes than McCain.

Wrong again! It was a 4% difference. I guess dinovirus can’t do math, either. Must be a product of govt indoctrination schools.

The KKK was formed as a Dem terrorist group to drive both black and white Republicans out of the South.
Educate yourself. The Dems are the reservoir of institutional racism in this country, since their inception as a political Party. If they didn’t play the race card, Dems would never get elected to any major office.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

Loved and revered..not cannonized. Why? Here’s a glimpse of his greatness.

In 1964, in language that’s just as apt [even more so] today, Ronald Regan said:

In this vote harvesting time, they use terms like “Great Society,” or [that] we must accept a “greater government activity in the affairs of the people”.

..Another voice says that the profit motive has become outmoded, it must be replaced by the incentives of the welfare state; or our traditional system of individual freedom is incapable of solving the complex problems of our country.

Senator Fulbright has said at Stanford University that the Constitution is outmoded. And Senator Clark defines liberalism as ” meeting the material needs of the masses through the full power of centralized government.” Well, I for one resent it when a representative of the people refers to you and me-the free man and woman of this country-as “the masses.”

But beyond that, “the full power of centralized government”-this was the very thing the Founding Fathers sought to minimize. A government can’t control the economy without controlling the people.

And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve it’s purpose. You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.

We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.

Now contrast that with the dismal darkness of Obama.

“The Constitution reflected the enormous blindspot in this culture that carries on to this day……the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties….it doesn’t say what the federal government “must” do on your behalf”

What a buch of Orwellian double-speak. It’s meaningles B.S. It’s a lie. The Founders explicitly delineated what governments must do “on your behalf.” PRESERVE YOUR FREEDOM

BTW the Constitution is “NOT” a charter; it’s the law of the land and there is no such thing as “negative liberties.” Liberty is liberty, period.

How in God’s name can nearly half of the American electorate fall for this marxists bullshit?

  • Mickey

Are you sure this wasn’t a SNL skit? It was pretty funny.

But now I’m conflicted. Do I buy the Ginsu knives and free oven mitt for $19.99 or do I buy the commemorative plates?
Times are tough and we have to make sacrifices.

  • MMA Grappler

I saw this commertial on TV earlier today.

It’s funny that the plates are described as “priceless,” then at the end we find out they cost $19.95.

Which is it, Priceless or $19.95.

What kind of idiot puts a decorative plate of a politician on their wall? Royce Gracie I could understand, but a politician!

  • Dino

AH gman, I see the newest conservative talking points have finally made it to this blog! It goes something like this:

Obama won’t lead as a far left extremist so that means the country will remain center right and the republicans really weren’t totally and completely defeated.

Seen it on other con blogs. You can’t blame people for coming up with ratioinalizations to keep from going insane before the guy even takes office. It’s all part of the stages of grief. I believe conservatives are still in the shock & denial stage though they exhibit anger through all stages and indeed through all situations of life.

  • Harry

So what does that make the middle of the plate???

  • di butler

Hell, I thought I had made the most commonsense arguement of them all:

Reagan has already served his Presidency, Obama hasn’t started his

Reagan is deceased, Obama is not

Is it really that hard to get your mind around that???

And yes, this is a weird and creepy commercial. I don’t think any president, or president-elect should be put on a pedestal, beloved and respected, sure, but don’t build ANYONE up to a standard that is impossible to fulfill. The people who buy stuff like this have Elvis plates and Princess Di plates. I guess we actually should pity them for their lack of taste, rather than aything else. Can you picture that living room? Maybe a Princess Di doll lamp? Or an Elvis figurine that plays music on the mantle?

The Senate has far broader powers to stop spending, hello? filibuster? Your party has used it more than ever. Besides, Reagan’s budgets submitted to the House asked for even more spending than they approved. Then of course there’s the veto.

    NEXT!

Yeah, such an inspiration. Go listen to this ridiculous recording Reagan made in 1961 warning of the “socialism” of Medicare:

    Some ridiculous reagan crap

Now the republicans act as if they invented it and Bush even crudely expanded it greatly with the prescription drug benefit!

Reagan will be vilified for his free-market lies once this Depression gets cranking.

He is beloved by a lot of people today, but he has also already served as president, something Obama hasn’t done, plus he is deceased. When Obama has served his term, and hopefully done a great job, then it would be much more appropriate to commemorate. Now it is just too much.
