Cuba’s Communists Ride To Michael Moore’s Rescue

The Cubans are accusing the United States of censoring Michael Moore after the Treasury Department launched an investigation into whether or not Moore violated trade violations with the communist island.

Cuba characterized American filmmaker Michael Moore as a victim of censorship and the U.S. trade embargo as it reported Friday on a U.S. Treasury Department probe of his March visit here for his upcoming health-care documentary, “Sicko.”

Moore took the trip, for a segment in the film, with about 10 ailing workers involved in the rescue effort at the World Trade Center ruins.

The Communist Party daily Granma called the 45-year-old U.S. travel and trade sanctions “a criminal action that has cost lives and grave consequences for the inhabitants of the island,” as well as Americans.

“Any resemblance to McCarthyism is no coincidence,” the newspaper opined, referring to the political witch hunt that U.S. Sen. Joseph McCarthy carried out against suspected American communists in the 1950s.

The U.S. government’s targeting of Moore “confirms the imperial philosophy of censorship” by American officials, it added.

Meanwhile...

The Cuban government has jailed 10 independent journalists—most of whom publish articles on Internet news sites—as part of a larger crackdown against political opposition on the island.

Police went from house to house on Tuesday, rounding up the reporters and 24 political activists, according to the media watchdog Reporters Without Borders. Authorities confiscated the detainees’ computer equipment, books and papers, the group said.

Perhaps those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

By the way, take a moment to ponder what’s going on here.  A communist country - guilty of no small number of eggregious human rights violations in the form of arresting reporters and political dissenters, torturing prisoners, denying fair trials to the accused and failing to have even one free and fair election since Castro came to power - is coming to the defense of Michael Moore.  Liberal icon and booth-mate of Jimmy Carter at the Democrats’ 2004 Presidential convention.

This guy is a hero for the left, and he’s also apparently a hero for communist Cuba.

Telling, isn’t it?

Comments

The fact that the Cuban government is one of the world’s most repressive and locks up journalists who dare to speak out by the truckload will be completely overlooked by the left as they seize onto this like a log in a flood.

Moore went there so he could make a prpaganda documentary on the wonders of socialized medicine. I wonder if he’ll mention the little tidbit about Castro importing Spanish doctors to treat him?

Nah.

Let’s open up the ban on travel for lefties wanting to travel to Cuba to receive medical care.

[W]hat you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Good plan, Whistler.

I can hear them now, singing the praises of Cuba’s system even as parts begin to drop off of them.

I don’t know if the Cubans know how well fed and stupid Michael Moore is. That’s kinda anti-commie. 4 or 5 comrades could live of his rations. Furthermore, his statistical methods would probably be found to be unsavory by all the Phds in Cuba, working the fields.

Look at this:

The Food Ration in 1842 for slaves in Cuba:
meat, chicken, fish-- 8 oz
Rice-- 4 oz
Starches-- 16 oz
Beans-- 4 oz

Castro Gov. Ration since 1962:
meat, chicken, fish-- 2 oz.
Rice-- 3 oz
Starches-- 6.5 oz
Beans-- 1 oz.

What kind of person defends this regime?

What kind of person believes that they might have health care? They don’t even have food!

Liberals who defend Cuba: you’re dupes.

People who can’t admit that socialism doesn’t work.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Its obvious, communism doesn’t work. Its only good for the ruling class that being the dictator and his brother. It amazes me how the left looks up to these socialist societies. Look at the cars they are still driving in cuba its obvious that they are falling behind. It could be an awesome place if they only over threw the government and installed a democracy. Cuba would be a great place to visit…

I doubt that they are in “mint” condition.  More like very used up original condition.

The only legitimate role of government with regard to economics is to prevent fraud and provide a remedy- civil and criminal penalties- in case of fraud.

People have the mistaken notion that the free market has no rules.  But it most certainly does.  All our problems are due to government meddling.

I predicted more insanity from Michael Moore back in 2004 when I released this nationally-aired song:

FarenHYPE 9/11

(BTW it was written, recorded and released months prior to Dick Morris’s DVD of the same title.)

After not hearing from Michael for awhile, I started asking (in reference to his insanity):

Is it Over Yet?

Apparently, it was not.  Now I believe it’s time to write the new one-song sountrack to “Sicko.” I’ll keep you posted.
