Crowd Boos McCain After He Says Obama Isn’t A Muslim?

That’s what this Politico story suggests, but the video tells a different story (ignore the ignorant MSNBC reporter who suggests that McCain’s tying Obama to Ayers - a white male - is what prompted this woman to suggest that Obama is an Arab):

After the Arab comment, and McCain’s response to it, I don’t hear a single boo.

Not one.  And good on them for applauding McCain.  This whole “Obama is a Muslim” thing is just plain silly.  Look at the actual church Obama attended.  The one headed by Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright.  Is that not loony enough without having to make up nonsensical stories about his being a closet Islamist?

I do hear the crowd boo, however, after McCain suggests that Obama isn’t someone to be afraid of.  But that booing is justified, I think.  People are tired of there being little distinction between McCain and Obama.  They’re tired of McCain letting Obama off the hook time and time again.  The people want McCain to draw sharp distinctions between himself and Obama.  They want him to stand up and stand out, and they’re frustrated that he won’t.

A President Obama is a scary thing.  We’ve faced something like it before during the Jimmy Carter years, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging the fear of going back to that era.  If McCain were a good candidate, a conservative candidate, he’d have no problem talking about that.  But he’s not, so he does.

Hopefully this doesn’t taint her for future runs.  I think she remains an asset to conservatives and the liberty-minded community.

Look, I know McCain is not a true conservative, we all do, but surely at this stage of the game he has to realize that his base IS the conservative base. I don’t know if he thought just because that one crazy heifer in the audience thinks Obama is a Muslim, that everyone does.Maybe he thought because he finally was getting ballsy he had gone too far. We all know that he hates the idea of having to attack Obama, he wants to continue that Senate attitude of being friendly, reaching across the aisle. Well, this crap is not going to cut it. This is like a senior moment, or someone who forgot their meds. No, that is not a slam at his age, but don’t you think that is how some people will see this?

What are you going to say if Obama wins and McCain has to stand up an ask you to support Obama as we are all Americans?  That is what every loser has done in the past.

What you are asking for is for our country to remain divided after the election.

McCain is dividing, not uniting.

likwidshoe on October 10, 2008 at 09:18 pm

McCain had the civility to acknowledge that Obama is not scary, not an Arab and is a perfectly decent American.

His audiences had recently begun to look a bit unruly with the kind of scurrilous outbreaks you’d expect from Hannity, Savage or Limbaugh, but not from McCain.

It was important for him to show presidential refinement, distinguishing him from overly offensive or discourteous supporters.

That is so nonsensical, you have to ignore your entire point to say that. He went out of his way to back up Obama. Obama has, in return, demonized and lied about him.

The reason people are saying Obama is Arab is because of his father’s nationality. Obama’s racial background consists of the following: 50% white (mother, both sides), 43.25% Arabic (father, both sides), and 6.25% African Negro (father, one side, 1 generation removed). His father’s descendents were Arab slave traders.

Documentation of his actual ethnic background demonstrates Mr. Obama is not an “African-American” as defined in United States law. He is Arab-American (...and if he’s even an American is questionable). But the truth of his nationality would not be favorable to him, so it’s repressed and he’s labeled “Black” or African-American. But with only 6.25% African Negro in his bloodline, that’s a pretty big stretch to classify himself as such.

Obama has never produced a registered certified birth certificate, and with all the pressure to do so, he still has not to this day, so it’s even questionable that he is legally a U.S. Citizen.

JazzyKat on October 11, 2008 at 03:22 am

FOLLOW-UP: Maybe the reason he hasn’t submitted a certified birth certificate is because it classifies his father as: Arab African!

Everything about this man shows he’s a fraud - his name, he lineage, his nationality, his religious upbringing, etc. He has seized the mantle of the “post racial” African American man and he’s not even African American. Claiming to be the man who will unify us when, in fact, he is the most divisive political demagogue to emerge on the national scene in decades and with his ascent comes a ghastly cast of vile characters - Farrakhan, Ayers, Wright, Pfleger and Rezko, etc....wonder if all of these will be members of his Cabinet?

McCain should take the Flat Tax, wrap it around this financial crisis, and punt.

The financial collapse and excessive bailout just may be the perfect storm. A very strong argument could be made that our current tax code created this problem. The Flat Tax would eliminate “the game” being played up top with our tax dollars that got us into this financial mess. It’s real reform. It’s massive reform. It’s the silver lining around this dark cloud we’re in.

This idea would wipe Obama’s lame tax cut for the middle class off the proverbial map…and void all his other lame socialist ideas.

The Flat Tax is the shot of penicillin the USA so badly needs. SPREAD THE WORD. Learn more: http://www.heritage.org/Research/Taxes/bg1866.cfm

I have never seen a rally for any political campaign that has been more full of venom. You can tell by the look on McCain’s face that he is ashamed of what is going on. His handlers have pushed him to play to the most low intellectual and hate filled of his supporters. If this were the 50s they would be yelling lynch him. When you have people yelling traitor and kill him from the crowd, how can one support this kind of thing? The pundits including Fox News, pawns it off as a few crazy’s in the crowd. This is nothing but spin which Fox is very good at as can be seen in the “Fair and Balanced” spin in the title alone. Just look at the line to the McCain Rally. Not one person did not yell “Terrorist, or son of a bitch, or flip off the camera man, or call them communist, or go home. This was just a few of the names yelled by the line. I would put these people in the same category as the Bill Aires of the 60s, They do not get what they want so they use intimidation and name calling to debase those they do not agree with. These are the real un-American, these are the people who are the real danger to our country.
This country is going in a good direction, I hope Obama wins and I hope we can remove the stains of the Republicans and George W. Bush. Change is needed.

Tell me this: Name ONE nice thing John Kerry ever said about Bush? Liberals are the one full of hate. People like P.Diddy, saying Palin “scares” him, Madonna saying she will kick Palin’s ass, when do you hear any famous conservatives ever talk like this? never. Nor do we go to Obama rallys and harrass people and threaten them or try to harm them by throwing bleach on them. This is what you liberal people are proud of? Seriously?

There is also the “famous conservative” slander machine Ann Coulter who says “liberals Hate God.”

Name ONE nice thing John Kerry ever said about Bush?

Here’s one nice thing, from 2004 presidential debate:

I believe President Bush and I both love our country equally. But we just have a different set of convictions about how you make America safe.”

That is the kind of cultivated campaigning that should characterize our country, not the aggressive falsehood-based character assassination so often advocated by some on this blog.

McCain is intelligent enough to realize two things:

1) If his campaign becomes associated with Hannity-style propaganda, as typified by that lady’s comment, it could rub off on him personally, casting him as ill-mannered and not very presidential.

2) Continuing to indulge directly, or through his VP or campaign surrogates, in really mean no-holds-barred character assassination would offer Obama a valid invitation to ask McCain publicly during the next debate: “What did you mean when you said “I failed my fellow prisoners, I failed myself, I failed my country?”

Surely his advisors have considered such a possibility and are advising him to distance himself for a while from character bashing.

I think Obama has the decency to not go there, though one might wonder why since it would be in keeping with Republican tactics.

Huh???  First, it was McCain and Palin who started this mess by introducing this into their campaign.  For over a week now Sarah Palin and McCain have been campaigning about how Obama is friends with a non-repentant terrorist.  They had their police friend call him Barack Hussein Obama.

Second, I was only talking about the reality of the situation.  As it stands right now, McCain is dividing because he stoked the flames and his supporters followed.  It doesn’t matter that he is backpedaling, the results have already taken it’s course.

O.k.some crazy people believe he is some Arab-Muslim terrorist. I am not sure if he has Arab blood or not. Don’t care. Don’t care if he is African. Don’t think he’s a terrorist. I think he likes at least one terrorist. As for Hannity, Rush, et al, I have heard them all make claims about character and judgement but never say they wish someone raped, beaten or killed. Must of missed that open-line Friday!

I am not sure that McCain is capable of inciting anyone to riot-level intensity! Have you not ever heard him speak?? He is so boring. He really wouldn’t have to say much though, I guess, people on the right are so mad at the situation right now and mad at him for not standing up for them, when they are together they probably do go pretty worked up.

di butler on October 11, 2008 at 12:48 pm

Hooray for John McCain. He is a decent man who did not want to see his party portrayed as a racist, fearmongering entity
that pandered to the basest human behavior. The comment from the woman about Arabs is an insult to all the Arabs worldwide. Where do you think she got the idea that Obama was Arabic? From the Republican machine. That same machine that made it very clear that every Arab and Muslim was a terrorist to be feared. Don’t give me that “fringe” shit. You know what you did. But being true conservatives you will never admit it. You should thank God that there is at least one honorable man who will not let your smut identify him. With your help, the fearful administration you envision under Barack Obama may come true. Yours is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If this country falls, you will have played a huge part in its demise.

I think McCain has got to be so confused! I don’t think he thought it would ever come to this. He just wanted to run his honorable campaign, and then the market tanked and he just wigged...I don’t think he has known which way to go since. Between his advisors and pudits and the people coming out to see him, he has been pushed to jump in the fray. Problem is, he can’t sustain this. What does he do the first time he gets lambasted by the media and the Obama campaign? He starts telling people that Obama is a decent guy, and people shouldn’t fear Obama. Do you really think after all the pushing these people have done to get him to go after Obama’s associations, that they are going to just say, “oh well, o.k.” Not going to happen. And when they get enough of feeling let down, some will be gone.

You may be asking Zsa Zsa...but I’ll answer that question. Obama has done nothing but community organize following Sol Alinski’s playbook; train and represent ACORN and pander to the unproductive “give-me” leeches that prey on society; all the while lining his pockets with money from lobbyist and voting present (non-vote) 90% of the time in the Senate. He says nothing but nonsensical feel-good empty rhetoric, and will be nothing but a socialist/Marxist leader who, with the help of the likes of Pelosi, Barnie Frank, and Chris Dodd, will finish destroying our economy and turn our Constitution on it’s head.

His almost non-existent voting record shows he doesn’t stand for anything...except of course for infanticide, banning our 2nd amendment right to bear arms, raising taxes and pandering to America’s enemies. When he adds another liberal to the Supreme Court all guns will be confiscated (so get yours unloaded and placed by the door.) Oh, and he’ll raise everyone’s taxes and give the 42% of the 95% that don’t pay taxes in America a check compliments of those who do work hard to succeed.

Other than that - he’ll be making history as America’s first Arab President, while claiming to be Black.

Although Qaddafi (Lybia’s leader) calls him his Muslim brother, I agree with Rob, it’s not likely he is Muslim or he couldn’t have sat under Rev. Wright’s Black Liberation Theology for 20 years; however, he is 43.75% Arab on his father’s side and 50% Caucasian on him mother’s side, with only 6.25% of African Black blood from his father’s side, once removed. According to US Federal Census laws, a person must be at least 1/8 (or 12.5%) African Black, to claim this minority status. He does not meet the legal requirement. I would say that’s why he won’t release a certified birth certificate.

The interesting thing is a lot of the Islamic leaders of enemy nations in the middle east are on the record wanting him to win the Presidency.

I again praise McCain for his civility that day. That’s the kind of gracious Americanism I hope we’ll all be able to return to one day.

That said, I’m still not in favour of another Republican administration, mostly because it wouldn’t be bringing the changes to our foreign policy essential for restoring our country’s image as a torch of peace and understanding. I don’t know if he smells bad. BUT his politics and many of his affiliations are just not appropriate for a future President of the USA. It is my hope that American voters really have the opportunity to know and understand who and what each candidate offers. Obama has been shielded and adored by the MSM and it is really too bad that many people are so uninformed because the Media refuses to do their job. John McCain is no bed of roses either. BUT he is the best of the two evils. John McCain has served his country honorably and that is one thing I admire. Obama is a nice looking man with great charm and a great smile. Having said that he is SO liberal that he makes Bernie Sanders (A self admitted Socialist.) look like a moderate! I think Obama is hiding things from the citizens of the USA and he OWES that much to the Voters! His ties to ACORN alone are bad enough. BUT he has more affiliations that are more than questionable…

I think our military needs to drop your butt off on the front lines of Afghanistan on the border with Pakistan for a few days, without a gun and let you face these radicals up-close-and-personal! Oh, we know what you would do...you would cry and raise your hands and surrender!...which is what you nuts want us to do in Iraq.

Thank you, Captain Non Sequitor.  If that had anything to do with what I wrote, maybe I’d be impressed.  Why don’t you go down to Guantanamo Bay for some cockmeat sandwich.

It’s not racism to reject an Arab (pretend black) President wannabe whose cozy with domestic terrorists or Louis Farrahkan . . .

But that’s not what the nice old racist lady said.  She said that she doesn’t trust Obama, and the first reason she gave is that he is Arab.

And are you actually saying that Obama is, in fact, Arab?  Yikes.

You’re right Jazzhead, I was asking Zsa Zsa. It’s the kind of question I would address to a lady like Zsa Zsa but not to a ranting individual like you incapable of a reasoned, carefully thought out response. Your “answer” is strictly in keeping with the small-minded nonsense you continue to spew despite the civility McCain is trying to bring to politics. You represent yourself. You do not represent the Republican Party and I seriously doubt that your off-the-wall response reflects anybody else’s views or at least how those views are expressed.

Nice rant! I noticed you couldn’t refute any of the points I made about Obama or his record. That’s what liberals do - when they can’t refute they just throw scattered snide remarks out there. lol

Don’t talk about McCain like you know what he should do. McCain needs to do whatever it takes to blow this socialist/Marxist and terrorist loving wannabe out of the water!

The liberal “attitude police” are always claiming the opposing party should be respectful. Respectful of what...his pretend blackness...his lousy non-record...his non-existent experience? Racism is the mantra of the day no matter what McCain says. You don’t respect a rattle snake, you decapitate it!...and that is what McCain must do to Obama!

Oswalde

You do not represent the Republican Party and I seriously doubt that your off-the-wall response reflects anybody else’s views or at least how those views are expressed.

And you do????? You’re so liberal...the stench was smelt before I even read the helter skelter befuddled words you wrote.

You don’t like any conservative news commentator that exposes Obama for the snake oil salesman he is. So don’t pretend on this blog you are anything but a abject liberal leftie...your posts betray you.

I’ve been a Republican for 55 years and know exactly what the party stands for. McCain on the other hand is the one who is not a Republican - he’s a moderate that has voted with and wrote too many legislative bills with liberals - but he’s all we have and whatever he may be, anything is better than Barack Hussein Obama! You liberals should like him, what he calls reaching across the isle, more actually could be termed “sleeping with the enemy!”

If you want to conduct an intelligent conversation - which liberals cannot do - I suggest you go back up and refute every point I made...or shut the hell up!

And you’re right Oswaldo, I’m not a lady, I’m a woman who eats and spits out little leftie piranhas like you for breakfast! So bring it on!!!

Boy, Palin has really brought the freaks out of the woodwork, huh?

dannyboy on October 13, 2008 at 05:33 am

But that booing is justified, I think.  People are tired of there being little distinction between McCain and Obama.  They’re tired of McCain letting Obama off the hook time and time again.  The people want McCain to draw sharp distinctions between himself and Obama.  They want him to stand up and stand out, and they’re frustrated that he won’t.

So they were booing mccain too. wait, explain your logic to me. the booing was justified, but there is no important difference between mccain and obama? i think the ‘rational right’ is going to have to pick another faux intellectual self-description. perhaps the emotional buzzword right. all bush’s “if you arent with us you are a terrorist” vitriol is biting you in the collective ass. rational right indeed.

Dannyboy - Boy, Palin has really brought the freaks out of the woodwork, huh?

You were here long before she showed up on the national scene.
