Cox & Forkum, Editorial Cartoonists To The Blogosphere, Are No More
John Cox and Alan Forkum, whose editorial cartoons I’ve featured here innumerable times since I started blogging, are ending their cartooning partnership. Pilgrim already posted on this today, but I thought I’d add in my two sense as I’ve been posting their work here on Say Anything since back before anyone outside we few internet geeks and political junkies even knew what the word “blogosphere” meant. I remember when I first caught on to their site I said to myself, “Wow, this blogging thing even comes with its own cartoonists.”
This a real loss for the blogging community, though both will continue to contribute on the internet in their own ways. The big mystery to me has always been why those guys weren’t picked up by mainstream print publications and published all over the country and world.
I suspect the answer has a lot to do with the fact that they were funny, painfully accurate (or joyously so, depending on your perspective) and pretty much diametrically opposed to the ideology espoused by most print publication editors. Regardless, I hope both John and Alan find success and happiness in their future endeavors.
John and Alan have a new book coming out (it will, obviously, be their last one) and are also selling some of the original artwork for their cartoons. Information is available at the link above.
