Countdown: When Will The North Dakota Media Cover The Latest Conrad/Countrywide News

Last week I posted about new revelations in the Kent Conrad/Countrywide scandal, namely that the feds have opened an investigation into the “sweetheart” loans given by Countrywide to Senators like Kent Conrad and Chris Dodd. Also that a Countrywide insider was on the record saying that it was his job to make sure Senators like Conrad knew they were getting special treatment from Countrywide.
Here’s the MSNBC report again:

That MSNBC report aired on October 30th. To date, not one mention of these new revelations have made it into North Dakota’s media. In fact, a Google News search for “Conrad Countrywide” shows that as of today only MSNBC, USA Today and the Washington Post have reported on these latest issues since they broke on October 30th.
Meaning that this story has been out for five days and nobody in the North Dakota media has covered it yet.
Scott Hennen and I were talking about this story recently, and he’s going to cover this on his morning talk show as well (subscribe to his podcast here or listen live 8 – 11am central time here).
How long does it take for a story like this to filter down to citizens in North Dakota? Isn’t Conrad being hip-deep in this scandal sort of an important news story for North Dakotan journalists? One that their readers/viewers might be interested in?

It won’t be mentioned conveniently until after the election and then only to challenge the claims as being wild allegations without merit or fact. What do you expect with the Forum owning almost every newspaper in the state plus television and radio stations. Do you thing the new fairness act will apply to them? I think not.

Pity we don’t have any actual, you know, reporters in North Dakota.

(A friend of mine works for the local Fox affiliate. I have to get on his case about this.)
