Conyers Calls On Congress To Pull Funding From Our Troops On The Battlefield

"Let’s make Iraq another Vietnam” should be the rallying call for Conyers (you’ll remember him from his pretend Presidential impeachment hearings last year) and his ilk.

Wonderful.  The “9-11 was an inside job” sign, along with the cops and ambulance worker with a stretcher, in the background are a nice touch.

Conyers is right on one thing, though.  The Constitution does give Congress the power to cut off funding for war.  It’s a check on the President’s power as commander-in-chief of the military.  But where Conyers goes off the tracks is where he asserts that the founders meant for that power to be used on a war like in Iraq, or with a President like Bush.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t think the founders meant for Congressional appropriations powers to be used as a lever to force failure in war for no other reason than to make the President look like a fool.  Which is exactly what most Democrats are doing on Iraq.  They don’t care about the war in Iraq, they care about making the President and those who support him look foolish so that they can get the White House in 2008.  If forcing us to flee from Iraq like Congress forced us to flee from Vietnam accomplishes that goal, they’re good with it.

Conyers, though, at least has the courage of his convictions.  Unlike most of his Democrat colleagues who are busy issuing resolutions against the war even as they simultaneously promise to appropriate the military what it needs to carry out the war (and refuse to consider de-authorizing the war) Conyers has consistently been anti-war.  He voted against it in the start.  He’s voted against funding for it in the past.  Those are detestable stances to have, but at least he’s been open and consistent about them.

Conyers is on the extreme left hand fringe of liberal politics in America. He dreams of being the new Civil Rights firebrand, another MLK; but his side is having a hard time with raising that issue in America in this century and Hispanics have displaced blacks as the minority du jour.

The Founders certainly knew that Congress could exceed the narrow parameters placed on governmental powers; that is why they designed three separate but equal branches of government and made elected officials responsible to the electorate.

Most Democrats, despite hating Bush with every fiber of their being, know that it will be easy to overplay their hand if they go directly after Bush through impeachment or cutting off finances for the war. Democrats and liberals are not that direct, they don’t want to defend their policies; so they are satisfied passing meaningless resolutions and verbally attacking Bush and the war until 2008.

Today Biden said that a ‘failed policy’ in Iraq had emboldened the terrorists. See what I mean about these people and their obfuscation, misdirection and triangulation? It is Democrats through their attacks on Bush, their defeatist rhetoric and anti-American agenda that has emboldened the enemy, according to the enemy, but Biden and others try and place the blame on Bush, and in the process by telling such lies loud enough and often enough, they usually can convince nearly half and sometimes more Americans that what they say is the truth and the facts are lies.

It is ‘beguilment,’ and it is the central tactic of hell to drag as many people into there as possible through charming, well stated lies!

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

The donkey is certainly a great symbol for the Dems…

This is why the democrats are irresponsible, irrational and childish.  This is what we get when the democrats control the people’s house.  Or do they actually represent the people from their districts?  Maybe so.
