On a related note, I actually think the Constitution should come with this disclaimer:

“This is the US Constitution and it’s not a historical document but rather the supreme law of the land. It says what it says, and if you don’t like it you should advocate for its amendment. If you can’t get it amended you should live with it. Or move to Canada.”

    Well the Constitution is a bit racist and misogynistic, so I don't mind the comments on race, gender and ethnicity. But I don't understand were they get sexuality or interpersonal relationships.

    The Constitution is neither racist nor misogynistic since the Constitution includes not only the original articles as approved, but also includes the amendments as soon as they are ratified properly. The earlier problems were corrected by later amendments, hence you are dead f'n wrong. AS USUAL.

    The disclaimer talks about speaking with your children.

    You don't think that parents might want to explain this phrase

    Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.

    When a child reads this I am not sure that the 14th, 15th and 16th amendment make it clear. All this disclaimer says is that parents should discuss the Constitution with their children. Why are you opposed to this? I think I am opposed to it because assholes like you don't understand it or the history of this country to be credible sources.

    Vlad, the part you cite is not part of the Constitution.

    It was, but the Amendments you cite removed it. It’s still printed in there for historical context, but legally, they no longer exist.

    One would hope that a child old enough to read it would be aware enough to grasp that. If not, then that is an indictment of the child’s parents, teachers, or both.

    Gang? The US Constitution always had a "disclaimer", it is listed as #2 in the Amendments.

    The Constitution always had a disclaimer backed up by the 2nd Amendment – it was called the Declaration of Independence and specifically referenced what to we have the right to do in the case of tyranny from the government: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
