Congressional Democrats To Obama: Don’t You Tell Us To Limit Earmarks!

Hope and change:

WASHINGTON (CNN) – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md, insisted Tuesday that Congress, not President Obama, would decide whether to put more limits on earmarks in upcoming spending bills.
Asked about a statement by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs Monday that the Obama Administration was formulating guidelines for earmark reform, Hoyer said flatly, “I don’t think the White House has the ability to tell us what to do.” He paused deliberately and quipped to reporters in the room, “I hope you all got that down.”

The Democrats (and Republicans too, sadly) aren’t going to let The One get in the way of some primo porking.

    So like Raygun, it wont be Obama’s fault, right? All I hear here is it was the congress that created the huge debt, not Raygun.

    There is no double standard, in spite of what you say. President Reagan was betrayed by the opposition party, the Democrats. President Obama is being told to stuff it by members of his own party.

    I know its more convenient for those of you on the Left to focus on the leadership of the GOP, but a more pertinent question might who’s in charge of the Democrats, ‘casue apparently it ain’t the recently elected Democrat president, Mr. Obama. He’s been in office only 6 weeks, and already his own party’s Pooh-Bahs are studiously ignoring him. Some leadership!

    It will get worse , we ain’t seen nothing yet . My Father, God rest his soul had said a few things in his life , one of them being this: “you will not see any change in Washington until you see politicians hanging from tree limbs”. I do not advocate that but there is wisdom to those words, what he meant was they are not going to change .

    WASHINGTON (AP) – Despite campaign promises to take a machete to lawmakers’ pet projects, President Barack Obama is quietly caving to funding nearly 8,000 of them this year, drawing a stern rebuke Monday from his Republican challenger in last fall’s election.

    Arizona Sen. John McCain said it is “insulting to the American people” for Obama’s budget director to indicate over the weekend that the president will sign a $410 billion spending bill with what Republicans critics say is nearly $5.5 billion in pet projects known as earmarks.

    “So much for the promise of change,” McCain said in the first of many assaults he is likely to make against pork-barrel spending this year.

    Buzz,

    Obama’s debit from this faux stimulus will be greater than the sum total of all American debit from the past 250 years.

    There simply are not enough wealthy to pay his taxes by 2011. Then he’ll go after the over paid, under worked union members. What Obama doesn’t get from you inflation will. And we still won’t have a decent economy.
