Common Sense Commentary: Common Sense Activism Spreading Like Wildfire

This week begins a countdown. Next Friday, the Take Back Washington Rally featuring Michele Bachmann is set to kick off in Bismarck…and I can’t possibly overstate how important it is. Together, we can lead the nation in the effort to educate, excite and organize concern citizens, desperately yearning to restore this government to its original principals and intent.
Forgive me if I sound a little Pollyanna, but I can’t help but suspect that fate is playing an intervening hand in the development of common-sense grassroots activism that’s spreading like wildfire throughout the nation. Think of it: townhall meetings, the tea party nation; none of this would have happened if McCain had won. Earl Pomeroy is flat on the mat. Kent Conrad will be shopping his resume around next. John Hoeven has a free pass to the United States Senate, for crying out loud! In one years’ time, we‘ve witnessed seismic change in the North Dakota political scene. And North Dakota is the tip of the spear that will return this country to the principals of its founding.
Now there IS hope. I’m not sure that was the hope President Obama had in mind, but it was for you, Common Sense Faithful. So many of you have sacrificed—personally and financially—under this administration; as victims of the Democrats’ assault on business and prosperity. Well you’re not alone. I too share in your anxiety…but I also feel your passion. It’s that passion that makes me cling to the hope that just one more show, one more morning commentary, one more defense of common sense or a reflection on what the Founding Fathers risked so much to preserve, and it’ll be enough to awake that sleeping giant, and move it into action. Well Dino, Good Morning to you. I see your vacation mellowed you out I am glad you are alive and kicking however, as I wondered where you were and if something happened to you.

This “White Trash” isn’t suffering, but, yes, I could be, and might, in the future. Can’t worry about the future, life is what you live NOW, so I don’t think about that, just try and get myself in the best position to weather whatever ends up coming and live my life in the fullest today.

I do have what I think are common sense ideas. Because I am center right, not liberal, not uber conservative, I would take fire from both sides, but I have, for 3 years now, and in vain, emailed my congressional delegation to try and have a dialogue. Maybe at some point there can be a back and forth…shrug

You can bury your head like Obama is doing and think they’ll come around. Clinton made that mistake. It’s weak. The only way to deal with these animals is with open conflict and confrontation.

This is why eventually, a liberal populist does emerge and things get really ugly.

Granted, I don’t agree that hate fear and greed exist in the way Dino frames it, but DINO see’s all of us as EVIL and thus, him admitting conservatives are winning is an accidental at-a-boy to us.

I don’t know that it’s “activism” in any sense of the word, but we let the radical lefties take charge of the country, and they have made a mess of things, so the vast majority of Americans oppose their lunacy. Seeing this country damaged and diminished by the majority’s fascination with conservatism is like catnip to me. Do you know how satisfying it’s been to see the end result of the conservative era be unworkable debt, foreclosures (concentrated in republicans places), unemployment and profound anger? It’s delightful!

Now had the outcome of the conservative era been Utopia, perhaps I would be upset. No, this is just as I imagined. And I structured my life accordingly so as not to be adversely affected. Lots of us liberals did.

So enjoy your tea parties, your mass tantrums, your fantasies of a no-tax Utopia. They’ll just add up to more pain, suffering and disappointment for you and yours in the future!

Nnow, perhaps you can define this “common sense.” Is it the idea that we can have all the services and amenities the white trash demands and not have anyone pay taxes for it? That we give across the board tax cuts, fully fund Medicare and balance the budget?

Far from “common sense”, the movement is typified by simplistic, anti-intellectual, child-like fantasies that you can have a first-rate culture that comes for free.
