Commenting Re-Enabled

Given that some of you just couldn’t wait, I re-enabled commenting a little earlier than I wanted to.
They’re still a little buggy. Avatars aren’t appearing yet for everyone. The comment counts underneath the post titles aren’t updating yet. And there is still some templating to do for how the comments themselves appear. But everything should be functional at this point, including the ability to log in to comment with your Facebook or Twitter accounts (among others).

Ok here’s the deal, you have to go to Disqus. At the top will be your Disqus ID. (Mine is Sayanything 4625). Click on your Disqus ID. You will then get three options: Accounts, Notification and Profile. Go to Notification and click Enabled. Send me notifications. Then you can chose Notify me of replies to my comments or Subscribe to threads that I comment on or both as you chose.

They work, but I’m not sure all I had to do to get them to work. I had to
enable my comments on the disqus site I think.

Well you’ll be able to respond to comments via email which will work for me
out of pocket.

The main page seems to be normal now. The main blog posts were way at the bottom earlier. The comments are slow loading, but seem to be working fine. Good work. If you aren’t going forward, you’re going backwards.

Um, you might have been doing the comments on the SAB site. That comment system is no longer effective. There are no signatures anymore.

You have to load a picture in the disqus site. Click on the stuff at the bottom of the comments and you should have a chance to make it work.

I haven’t figured it all out either.

Greg I don’t see any of that ID stuff: Mine just says My Activity, My Settings, My Profile.

Try clicking on the Sharing options tab at the bottom of the comments box Neiman.

Oh, here is my avatar. When I went to sharing and to Open ID, it asks for the url for my open ID, any idea what that is?

I asked in another thread, can’t find it now, is email notification for comment threads going to be on again? So far I have commented several threads since 16:45 and nothing has come through to my email.

It should be at the top right of the screen in a little box. You may have had to click on the link that Rob provided earlier.

Yeah the mobile version still has the old commenting system. Ill be disabling comments there entirely.

Openid is just another way to sign in. You can use facebook or twitter too.

Yeah, sign up for Disqus and then go into your profile. Under the listing
ofyour comments there will be a link to claim your old comments.
