Color Changing Paint

Whoa...

heatchangingpaint.jpg

I need to get a bunch of that stuff and re-paint the outside of my house with it. Maybe bright pink when it is cold and neon green when it is hot...that would give the neighbors something to talk about.

Actually, now that I think about it color changing paint could help make a home more energy efficient. Like maybe having the house turn white when it's hot out (to reflect heat) and black when it's cold (to absorb heat from sunlight).

Anyway, cool stuff regardless.

I wonder how much different that is from the stuff that they put on our Hotwheels toy cars as kids?

I love that green color, rob..under the right conditions!  Just finished bringing home an armload of interior views and color chips for a retail place, along with those little wooden flooring pieces you can buy for $1.

Playing with paint is fun and colors can do many things to our senses.  I wish I understood more about the psychology of color, but hopefully the architect/designer will!

Two years ago, Plane And Pilot magazine ran a feature story about a lady in Texas who owned her own private airfield and a Globe/LTV Swift aircraft.
(A Swift is a small, two-place aircraft with handling characteristics similar to a WWII fighter.) This particular airplane had a 225hp engine installed (stock was 85hp) and a green/purple paint job that could have been designed by Jimmi Hendrix and was at once handsome and ugly.

The price of the paint must have come down considerably since then, because I recall hers was over twice what this stuff lists at.

I can think of better color combinations than that black/green thing.  Looks like someone spilled something vile into the tub.

More likely, its the remanents from an old ”X-Files” episode.

It would be great for little boys, who could now write their names in the tub, not just in the snow.

That’s the cool part!
