Colin Powell May Endorse Barack Obama?

It wouldn’t surprise me as Colin Powell has always been close to the Democrat/Republican divide on the ideological spectrum, but the real question is this: Is Powell choosing Obama just because Obama is black like Powell?

And if so, is that any better than Dick Cheney saying he’s going to pick McCain for President because McCain is white?

Nice way to throw race into it to try to blunt the effect of the endorsement.

How is this not playing the race card?

Seems like a legitimate topic for discussion to me.

And I doubt that I can be said to be playing the race card given that I’m not asking for any special treatments of favors because of my skin color or making any preemptive accusations of racism.

Real question if you’re a closet racist.

The real question is he qualified.

If Powell endorses him, it will be because he thinks Barack Hussein Obama is more qualified that McCain.

Face it, Rob. You are playing the race card and you know it. Colin Powell has a meeting with Barack Obama and suddenly his endoresement is expected or suspect. You are just being a little shit-disturber like the rest of the media. Maybe Barack just wants a little advice from a man many Americans respect and admire.

The real question is he qualified.

Finally!  The question that should have been asked all along.  Is Barack Obama qualified?

Why?  What has he done, accomplished, or experienced that qualifies him to be Commander-in-Chief of the US military, chief executive of the US government, and leader of the free world?  I don’t see that he has actually DONE anything that qualifies him to be president.

watashiwa imputes a sinister motive to anyone who dares point out the obvious racial element in a Powell endorsement, a typically simplistic, knee-jerk reaction on his part to something he doesn’t like.  But this,

If Powell endorses him, it will be because he thinks Barack Hussein Obama is more qualified that McCain.

is really no better, presuming a motive on Powell’s part that is clearly not in evidence.  Powell is barely a Republican and certainly no conservative, with a record as Secretary of State that can be charitably labeled modest.  It would certainly be nice from Obama’s perspective to garner an endorsement from Powell, but there is no reason to assume that such a decision by Powell would be based on the purest of motives.
