Code Pinks Disrupts Maliki Speech

Medea Benjamin - the founder of the rabidly anti-war group Code Pink, a pro-communist activist and a symapthizer with Saddam Hussein - managed to get a ticket to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's speech in Congress today, and she used the opportunity to disrupt the proceedings.

You don't suppose some Congressional Democrat slipped her the ticket to attend, do you? It's not like they haven't done that sort of thing before.

Regardless, leftists were probably happy to see this. Democrats certainly weren't very interested in seeing Maliki have his say in front of America, yet if we take a step back and consider this situation from a certain perspective what happened is really quite disgusting.

Before the invasion of Iraq Benjamin traveled to that country to serve as a human shield as a symbolic way of protecting Saddam's dictatorship from being toppled. That obviously didn't work, so now we have Benjamin - who once showed symbolic support for the cruel oppressor of Iraqi citizens - heckling the newly-elected leader of Iraq who was put in power by the very people Saddam oppressed.

In the halls of Congress, no less. And probably as a guest of some Democrat too, as I've already mentioned.

I don't care what your opinion of the war in Iraq is, what Benjamin did was disgusting.

By the way, if you missed the speech you can read a transcript here or watch it here.
