Coalition Deaths In Iraq Hit “Gloomy Milestone” Of 4,000

Of course, that low number makes the war in Iraq the least bloody major military conflict our armed forces have ever been involved.  For what we’ve accomplished in Iraq, and the sort of hard-bitten, globally-funded insurgency we’ve had to go up against to accomplish it, we haven’t lost that many lives in historical terms.

Not that you’ll be hearing about that particular perspective as this story makes the rounds today.

Personally, it was one death more than I would have liked!

I am hoping the next milestone won’t include my grandson or nephew.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.
