CNN: So Wesley, How Come Kerry’s Military Service Was Important But McCain’s Isn’t?

Isn’t this what a Vice Presidential candidate is for? That is, carry the heavy water for the candidate, say unpopular things, while leaving the candidate at the head of the ticket with plausible deniability? In this case no one can come back an say Clark has no military experinece on which to base his opinions.
This has all the appearances of a well crafted plan by the Obama Campaign to discredit McCain’s military experience, as several top Democrats along with Clark have been making very similar statements in recent weeks. It keeps it out of Obama’s mouth, he can take the higher road, and still the job is done.
Except this is stupid: If Iraq were still an issue, attacking McCain’s military experience and hero status could backfire big time; but, the success in Iraq has all but taken that issue and for most Americans the war against global Islamic terrorism off the table of important issues. So, no need to talk about military experience at all, it is a waste of energy and can only work against Obama.
No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.
John Kerry actions after he returned from Vietnam betrayed his troops and dishonored the military uniform.
John McCain’s service was completed with honor.
