CNN: McCain Says Hamas Wants Obama

An odd headline from CNN:

image

Why would CNN report that McCain is saying this given that Hamas itself is saying that it supports Obama?

Wouldn’t a more accurate headline be “Hamas Says Hamas Wants Obama?” Or just “Hamas Wants Obama?”

I guess CNN can’t report that fact without casting it as some sort of smear the McCain campaign just made up.

Comments

I looks like Whirlednutsdaily caught themselves a flipper:

Hamas believes Sen. Hillary Clinton, if elected president in 2008, will end President Bush’s “unlimited military and diplomatic support for Israel” and adapt a more “evenhanded” approach toward the Palestinians, says the group’s top political adviser.

Speaking yesterday with WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein, Ahmed Yousuf, the top adviser to the Hamas leader in Gaza and to the deposed prime minister of the Hamas-led Palestinian government, said in recorded comments the group heard from “many Americans” that if the Democrats take the White House next year they will implement “drastic changes” to U.S. foreign policy and relations with the Palestinians.

“I do believe Miss Clinton will have a more balanced policy when it comes to how to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict,” Yousuf told Klein. ”And I don’t think she is going to give to the Israelis this unlimited military and diplomatic support that they are actually enjoying now; so … the future politics in the region will [see] a very drastic change when it comes to how to handle the Palestinian question.”

… “I hope Hillary is elected in order to have the occasion to carry out all the promises she is giving regarding Iraq,” stated Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist group.

Dear fish, thanks for the barrel.

Dear fish, thanks for the barrel.

This from the guy who took one out of context sentence from a story on Newt and built a thesis out of it!

Those who think the party or the country, will be “taught a lesson” by handing the levers of power over to the liberals will learn a lesson, but it will be at the expense of our country and her liberties. And there are no guarantees that the party or the country will come out stronger, more conservative or better positioned to win elections against the incumbent liberals.

rbb: What!!!  Are you suggesting that WND cannot be relied upon!!??  Ghasp! How… how am I to know what’s really going on in the world????

That uncredited quote is drawn from an interview published Monday by conservative news site World Net Daily, whose current headlines include “District bans ‘John 3:16,’ promotes demonic leer” and “Lesbian demands custody of Christian mom’s 6-year-old.”

See, there’s no way those accusations can hold water. They came from a bitter website that clings to God and guns. Holy smokescreen, Batman.

Took me all of four seconds to find the actual audio of the interview in which that Hamas spokesterrorist voices his organization’s Obama-love.

Uncredit that, CNN.

So...you’re saying Hamas is pretty much for whoever the Democrats want?

You’re thinking this improves the situation?

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

No I’m saying that WhirledNutDaily has a found a guy with an arab accent to endorse the front runner no matter who it is.

Are you swallowing an audio tape from some guy…no video…no positive ID?
Nothing but a scratchy tape recording from the laughable gop propaganda mouthpiece, WND?

What did they teach you in journalism 101…oh sorry, I forgot.

Ok then, good luck with that.

When in doubt, attack the source.  Right boob?

By the way, when I posted about Hamas’ comments on Obama it came from The Weekly Standard which offered it as a direct quote from Ahmed Yousef.

Never mind, it was Phil Kline from The Spectator.

Here’s audio of Aaron Klein and John Batchelor interviewing Yousef, the Prime Minister of Hamas, for WABC radio.

Feel free to change your line of attack, Boob, now that your first one has been thoroughly embarrassed.

Oh well, the American Spectator…well…that is a fine fair and balanced rag.

Scaife - Arkansas project, David Brock’s first home…what an unimpeachable source, almost as reputable as the Weekly standard.

What has William the Bloody ever been right about, btw?

Good luck with that.

Boob, I also posted audio from a WABC radio interview with the Prime Minister of Hamas.

I guess the truth itself has a right-wing bias.

Translation: STUPID FACTS! ALWAYS GETTING IN MY WAY!

It’s an interview with a main member of Hamas. Crying bias is irrelevant. The interview where he voices support for Obama is still around.

Well done, boob.

Uuummmm.....that is exactly what Rob has done and continues to do with Obama on his Bitter comment.

He does this because he never learned the difference between the word “AND” and “BECAUSE”.  Apparently that little distinction is too much nuance for Rob to grasp?

As crazy as it sounds....its the truth.  Sorry Rob.

I’d actually like to know what context Obama provided in that speech to San Francisco liberals that changes the meaning of his now oft-quoted “bitter” comments.

Because the meaning of those comments was clear.  Obama, for all his faults, is an articulate and concise speaker.

I just spelled it out for you Rob.

I can’t help you any more than pointing out you are replacing and confusing the word AND with BECAUSE to change the context.

When you quote Obama, you change the words he used.  Why do you do this?  Either because you want to deliberately mislead your audience to convey that Obama said something he didn’t.  Or because you really keep missing the word AND.

Why don’t you help ME out?  Why do you quote him by changing his words?

Actually, this what Obama said:

So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

You’re saying that the “and” draws a distinction between the bitterness and all the gun/religion clinging.  But the last bit of that statement indicates why Obama thinks the clinging is going on: Because Americans are frustrated.

The same as being bitter.  Bitter and frustrated.  This was his meaning.  Americans cling to their guns and religion not because they like guns and seek spiritual fulfillment but because they’re bitter and frustrated and religion/guns/hatred of people not like them is an opiate.

Just as Marx put it: Religion is the opiate of the masses.

I have a hard time believing that you think this particular line of argument is beneficial to your goals.  You have to be some sort of right-wing operative satirizing an Obama supporter.  Because seriously.  You’re becoming a caricature.

That rag did not interview the Hamas Prime Minister! It’s all a conspiracy! That’s just some random arab!  Just because donkeys promote policies terrorists agree with and just because we constantly lie in order to undermine anyone who fights back against terrorists doesn’t mean we are pro terrorist!  We are patriots who MUST deny any facts that threaten our fragile world view.  Yeaaaaaarggggggggghhhh!
