CNN Host Says Republicans Are “Literally” Like Nazis
The CNN interview between D.L. Hughley is getting a lot of attention because of what Steele said about Limbaugh, but it’s worth noting in that same interview that Hughely said Republicans were “literally” like Nazis.
And Steele just let it go.
CNN host D.L. Hughley turned to the standard left-wing tactic of playing the Nazi card against Republicans on his program on Saturday evening: “The tenets of the Republican Party are amazing and they seem warm and welcome. But when I watch it be applied—like you didn’t have to go much further than the Republican National Convention….It literally look[s] like Nazi Germany.” He went on to say that blacks weren’t welcome in the party: “It just does not seem—like not only are we not welcome—not only are we not welcome, but they don’t even care what we think.” He later described the GOP as “reactionary.”
It’s bad enough that Steele didn’t respond, and it’s mildly humorous to see Hughley claim that there’s no place for blacks in the GOP while interviewing the head of the RNC who happens to be black, but the worst part is the double standard that let Hughley make such a comment and get away with it.
Can you imagine if Fox News’ Glenn Beck compared Democrats to Nazis whilst interviewing Howard Dean? The media outrage would be immediate. But someone like Hughley, who has the double protection of being a liberal and black (liberal dogma says minorities can’t be racist), says it and it’s no big deal.
We live in a media environment where Tony Snow was called racist for saying “tar baby,” and Don Imus lost his job for saying “nappy headed ho’s” but Hughley can say that Republicans are literally like Nazis and get away with it.
Hughley should apologize. CNN should apologize.
