Obama Admin Warned 27 Days Prior Consulate Couldn’t Withstand Attack
Fox News has just broken the following on the tragedy at Benghazi:
The U.S. Mission in Benghazi convened an “emergency meeting” less than a month before the assault that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, because Al Qaeda had training camps in Benghazi and the consulate could not defend against a “coordinated attack,” according to a classified cable reviewed by Fox News.
Summarizing an Aug. 15 emergency meeting convened by the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Aug. 16 cable marked “SECRET” said that the State Department’s senior security officer, also known as the RSO, did not believe the consulate could be protected.
If you were unwilling or otherwise unready to believe that the Obama Administration was grossly (and possibly criminally) negligent in how they managed this debacle — a debacle which ultimately left four US officials (including US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens) to fend for themselves in the final hours of their lives while the White House watched from above via video feed — then there is no evidence more damning than this new revelation to change your assessment. In short, Secretary of State Clinton was told by the senior official on the ground responsible for security in Libya that the consulate had indicators of the attack which ultimately occurred on Sept 11, 2012, and they did not have the resources to defend themselves from it.
That is 27 days of warning in which President Obama and Secretary Clinton could have acted to prevent or otherwise alleviate the effects of such an attack; an attack which ultimately occurred 11 years after the 9/11 attacks on the US. Instead of doing what should be done to protect the consulate and men and women abroad who represent our nation abroad and protect us, Obama golfed, raised money, and skipped his Presidential Daily Briefs.
The classified cable addressed to Secretary Clinton made clear that the mission was aware of Islamist militias and Al-Quida training camps in the area.
In addition to describing the security situation in Benghazi as “trending negatively,” the cable said explicitly that the mission would ask for more help. “In light of the uncertain security environment, US Mission Benghazi will submit specific requests to US Embassy Tripoli for additional physical security upgrades and staffing needs by separate cover.”
Between:
- *Skipped intelligence briefings
- *Not significantly increasing security prior to 9/11
- *Missing indicators of the attack itself
- *The disinformation spread about a video and a protest
- *An administration that watched but did not take action with available resources (such as AC-130 Gunships) during the attack to help those on the ground who were helpless
- *Giving orders to those on the ground (ignored the second time) not to defend themselves
- *And now ignoring warnings provided from their people on the ground that they could not defend themselves
We have the recipe for an administration completely and tragically culpable for the deaths of four dedicated Americans. Obama and Clinton are wholly responsible for this tragedy due to their negligence, and are no longer fit to lead our nation. The right thing for them to do is resign, but it is hard to point to the last time they have done anything right. It also makes one wonder if having the blood of these four patriots on their hands is of concern to them.
