Chuck Norris Thinks John McCain Is Too Old To Be President

I think this barb about John McCain’s age from Chuck Norris is part of a trend we’re seeing from Huckabee.  Huck himself likes to come off as the affable country pastor who is above all the nasty mud-slinging.  In the background, though, he’s got his surrogates doing the dirty work.  There were pro-Huckabee groups push-polling in Iowa.  There were pro-Huckabee groups push-polling in South Carolina.  There was also a pro-Confederate flag group running ads in South Carolina praising Huck and disparaging his opponents.

And now Huckabee’s constant campaign companion, Chuck Norris, comes out and hits on the touchy subject of McCain’s age.

What will Huck’s reaction be?  He’ll probably repudiate Norris’ remarks in the same, if somewhat less harsh, way he repudiated the groups push-polling for him.  But even as he repudiates, he’ll sit back and benefit from it (now that someone’s broken the ice, McCain’s age and health is about to become an issue that Huck the health nut can capitalize on) showing once again that a smooth operating politician lays beneath that humble, southern-fried exterior.
