Chris Matthews Spontaneously Interviews Liberal Activists, One Just Happens To Be His Daughter

When you’re as in-the-tank for Obama as the folks at MSNBC are, stuff like this doesn’t even seem like a big deal.


Coming on the heels of news about Matthews’ supposedly spontaneous interviews at the RNC convention being pre-scripted, this is a pretty serious lapse.
News reporting influences the public. When news reporting is choreographed or scripted or is made to appear to be something it is not, like when reporters engage in what appear to be spontaneous interviews that aren’t, it’s deception.
And that has no place in journalism, though these days “ethical journalism” is something of an oxymoron anyway.

    No argument is needed. Chrissy has been caught manufacturing a “news” segment. If it was parody perhaps Chrissy should be doing the Jon Stewart thing, because as a political commentator and “journalist” he is a fraud and abject failure.

    If, by ‘lies’, you mean Rob’s description of the group as liberal activists, then you are on thin ice here.

    Auto salesmen often identify themselves as ‘client service representatives’. Does that mean – by the logic you are applying here – that no one should call them con-artists?

    Rob is describing the group in his own subjective words; not the same thing as a lie, however much you may dislike his appelation. A lie would have been to describe them objectively as ‘paid demonstrators’.

    People and groups identify themselves in flattering terms all the time. It’s ok for folks like you, me and Rob to describe them as we see them, and the way we see them may not be nearly so flattering.

    FOXNEWS identifies itself as ‘fair and balanced’. How would you describe them, or do you feel you cannot challenge their self-identification?

    I notice how you have the innate ability to walk a fine line when it suits you, but fail to grant any lee-way when it comes to your political foes.

    If there is no evidence to suggest they are a “liberal activists”, knowing Rob’s constant pattern of behavior, I think it can only be seen as a lie.

    There is no reason to doubt that they are a bi-partisan organization. Rob offers no information to contradict what was offered by the group.
