Chris Matthews: Bush Is Worse Than Wright

Because Bush’s poll numbers are worse than Wright’s.  Or something.

I think it would absolutely hurt McCain to tie his campaign too closely to the Bush administration.  For better or worse, people in this country are weary of Bush and want something new (which is why Obama’s passionate-if-vague sermons about “change” have probably been so effective), but for all his faults Bush isn’t on the ballot this year as much as liberals may want to make this campaign about him.

He’s also never screamed “God damn America” from a podium and while he may be the creator of controversial policies, but he’s never hatched conspiracy theories about the US government creating AIDS to kill black people.  He’s never implied that America deserved 9/11.

Wright has done all of those things, and that’s the problem Obama is going to have.

The liberal left may hate Bush, but let’s remember that the man was elected to the highest office in the country not once but twice.  And the second time by a much larger margin than the first.

WTF???

Oooooh I see..., you’re not talking about who received the majority of the popular votes…but how the Supreme Court stopped the vote count and gave our presidency to the guy Americans did not want as their president.

You really are becoming quite a re writer.
Good for you, nutter central always needs good re writers.

"And the second time by a much larger margin than the first.”

He won the first one by a negative number, so winning by a single vote would be a “much larger margin.”

I think there are a lot of us who are thoughtfully choosing to not vote for either Bush or Wright.  This isn’t based so much on race or gender, please don’t take it that way, but on how we see the situation.

if you think the transition or logic here is sound, you are way off. if it was something obama had said, that would be one thing. its like saying i have to answer for what my wife or pastor says. it horseshit and you know it.

Wrong.  The Presidency is won by electoral votes, and President Bush won by more electoral votes the second time than he did the first time.  You should take a course in US Govt before you pretend you know something about the subject.

RBB:

How the Supreme Court stopped the vote count and gave our presidency to the guy Americans did not want.

Well, there’s a little tweaking of history going on here.

1.  Gore had approximately a quarter-million more popular votes than Bush. Hardly a resounding rejection of Bush by the people.

2.  The United States Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to only recount the votes in three counties of Florida, which the democrats had petitioned the Florida Supreme Court to do.

That pesky ‘equal protection’ thingy.

Note: After seven recounts, President Bush still won Florida.  The Dems also suppressed counting the overseas ballots, which would have made his popular vote margin smaller, or would have eliminated it entirely.

That pesky ‘equal protection’ thingy
did not apply to the simple remedy of counting all the votes.
The majority found that the recount would have to be done by Dec 12 to be valid for the Electoral College.
The opinion was delivered that day so the votes were not counted.
Five Jurists decided the election, not the voters.

Five Jurists decided the election, not the voters.

Wrong.  The legally-counted, duly certified voters decided the election, in spite of the illegal efforts of Gore to steal it with lies and chicanery.  The US Supreme Court overruled the partisan Florida Supreme Court that overturned a legal and duly certified election in the first place.
No voting irregularities(the excuse for the endless recounts) were ever proven.  The claimed “irregularities” all were alleged to have occurred in districts which went heavily for Gore, so they were obviously a ploy to try to cheat him into the Presidency.

woof:  I generally don’t like Wikipedia, but in the interest of time and assuming that Wiki won’t be over your head, I quote the following:

By a vote of 7 - 2, The Supreme Court held that the Florida Supreme Court’s method for recounting ballots was unconstitutional.

The loss of valuable time was due to the dithering, manuvering and posturing of the Florida high court, dominated by appointed democrats, and determined to find a way to give the election to Gore.

# Saturday, Dec. 9—The U.S. Supreme Court votes 5–4 to halt the hand recounts and sets a hearing for Dec. 11.

WOOF on May 1, 2008 at 05:28 pm

Tuesday, Dec. 12—The U.S. Supreme Court rules in Bush v. Gore 7–2 to reverse the Florida Supreme Court, which had ordered manual recounts in certain counties. The Court contends that the recount was not treating all ballots equally, and was thus a violation of the Constitution’s equal protection and due process guarantees. The Supreme Court of Florida would be required to set up new voting standards and carry them out in a recount.

The justices, however, split 5–4 along partisan lines about implementing a remedy.

Five justices maintain that this process and the recount must adhere to the official deadline for certifying electoral college votes: midnight, Dec. 12; other justices question the importance of this date.

Since the Court makes its ruling just hours before the deadline, it in effect ensures that it is too late for a recount.

…As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg writes in a scathing dissent, “the Court’s conclusion that a constitutionally adequate recount is impractical is a prophecy the Court’s own judgment will not allow to be tested. Such an untested prophecy should not decide the Presidency of the United States.”

Oh, and then there is this from their ruling:

“Our consideration is limited to the present circumstances, or the problem of equal protection in election processes generally presents many complexities.”

In other words…ahhhh don’t tell anyone about this and if it comes up later…you know don’t know nothin.

Gore’s mistake was to not demand a state wide recount.
Kathrine Harris and voter caging took care of the rest.

Chrissy Matthews has a tingle in his pants over Obama’s candidacy, his is a minor, poorly watched program on MessyNBC and he is a girly-man, so who cares what that boob thinks?

Liberals will never get over the 2000 election because they reject the rule of law and they hate the electoral college. It is all meaningless blather by sexually ambiguous liberals.
