Che Guevera Gets A Statute In Central Park

A memorial to a murderous socialist thug in the heart of the heart of capitalism:

image

The base of the sculpture is inscribed with a Che quote that my ignorance of Spanish prohibited me from deciphering. But I’m pretty sure it wasn’t an apology for committing acts of terror and helping to derail a country for nearly half a century.

I’ve never understood the left’s fascination with Che. I mean sure, he’s a socialist and that ostensibly means he’s a member of the people’s revolution or whatever euphemism the extremist proponents of government-run everything use for themselves. But the reality of Che doesn’t really match up to myth of Che carried in the hearts (and on the backpacks and t-shirts) of aging hippies and immature college students everywhere.
For instance, did you know that Che Guevera was a terrorist who plotted the murder of tens of thousands of innocents? Well, maybe that doesn’t matter so much given that Bill Ayers was given a pass for plotting the same sort of things. Bug Guevera was also known to rail against rock ‘n roll, “long hairs” and homosexuals in his speeches. He was a racist who mocked black Cubans and segregated them in his revolutionary movement. And he was a book burner who personally hosted bonfires fed by the libraries of intellectuals.
Are those things really worth celebrating?

Freedom of expression but we can send a statue of Reagan to the Central Park of Havana too.

Once again, Liberals completely miss the point. They think of Che as a man who went up against “the System”. They like to think of themselves as rebels so the narrative appeals to them. I work with a woman who was wearing a Che shirt and carrying around his biography. When I spoke to her about it I realized that she knew absolutely nothing about him. After I informed her of some of his more bloodthirsty acts, she stopped wearing the shirt. She later told me, “I’m not really political”.

What we have now is this freedom of expression of speech with no responsibilities attached. We have become a nation if whiners and Sayers with nothing in what we say, it means nothing any more . what we say is worthless and means nothing if it is not said with fortitude and honor and honesty behind it. the people exalt the vilest men because they think they are cool and never look at what these men did . From the vile settings of so called art which depicts the cross upside down in a glass of urine it means nothing it says nothing but is only vile and putrid. The most horrible things are displayed for all to see . We have lost our identity and will suffer for that .

It’s difficult to defeat a “myth”, but there’s plenty of documented facts showing Che Guevara’s despicable acts and crimes against humanity!

    – Melek

Nice thoughts Melek, but the Left (including many of the Marxist commenters here) never let a fact get in the way of their lying. You’d have a hard time forcing the truth out them at gunpoint, they don’t know what it is and don’t care a thing for it.

You can’t even get these lying assholes (WOOF) to admit that Bill Ayers is/was a terrorist, you think they’ll ever admit anything bad about Che is true?

Can someone tell me who sponsered this? Was it the city or some private group?

It’s appaling that a man who murdered so many defenseless prisoners and peasants, and who wated to launch Russian nukes on American soil, should get a statue on American soil.

Why don’t we just put up statues of Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky, Pol Pot, Heinrich Himmler, and Barbara Streisand up in Central park as well.

“Once more I was able to convince myself how criminal the capitalistic octopuses are. On a picture of our old and bewailed comrade Stalin, I swore not to rest before these capitalistic octopuses are destroyed.”

Any of the above statements made by Che Guevara could very well be written under his statue.

All of us,informed individuals, about the real Che, have the responsibility to counteract this type of “subtle” socialist and communist propaganda! The symbols of the movements are introduced very cleverly in the most unsuspected ways (such as in fashion & art)with the aim to make the regular citizen “impervious” to the ugly reality they represent.

It’s difficult to defeat a “myth”, but there’s plenty of documented facts showing Che Guevara’s despicable acts and crimes against humanity!

Moral & ethical principles are not limited to individuals … business entities, community organizations, and government agencies are bound by these principles too!

I wish you well :) Melek

If it was the city, I’m liable to head down to the park and take my money’s worth out of the statue.

Too bad scrap prices dropped last month or this thing would have been stolen already.

Oh, I got a feeling that this statue is going to be gone real quick, it is not permanent. Some German sculptor did it and it is shipped around to different museums for temporary display. When he got a lot of heat over it he claimed it is not Che, just a Che-like character.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

I’d like to see someone post a sign, near there, about the realities of Che. Hold the sponsors of that statue responsible for approving mass murder.

Let’s make a bronze of a large heap of dung.
We’ll place it right next to Che’s statue with a plackard:
FATHER and son. People can determine for themselves which is which.

You have got to be kidding me. Oh if only I lived in New York. Someone has got to kill it. Someone is going to destroy that piece of crap and soon.

You forgot to mention that Che Guevara sent thousands of Cubans to be executed by firing squad, including a 14 years old boy, he shot himself. This is a spit on our face. Our dead are still waiting for justice and their murderer gets a statue in the USA!

In Venezuela they unveiled a bust of Che and it got beheaded. I predict when enough Cubans find out about this, it’s going down.

    Actually no, we couldn’t.

There is no free expression in Cuba.

It bothers me that it’s socially acceptable to worship Che. I mean, I think people should be free to choose that if they want, but if they do they should be relegated to the same social status as white power aficionados.

Great defense of the most incompetent "revolutionary" of all time. His campaign in the Congo was a disaster. His campaign in Bolivia was worse and led to his death. He was a murdering thug and I'm happy to report he's still moldering in his grave! Long live the Second Infantry Battalion (Ranger) and the 8th Special Forces Group!

Would you rather we put a statue of United Fruit who went to central America and killed all the farmers and installed oppressive, non-democratic puppet governments so we could steal their resources and money?

Go f*ck yourselves, you are apologists for murdering liars.

    • Greg in Oklahoma

I don't see anyone asking to install a statue of United Fruit, Professor. Che is still a murdering thug. I don't see you calling him out, so who is the apologist for murdering liars?

      • Sparkie Arbuckle

The United Fruit stuff goes back to the 1930s, if not earlier. Che's mission, and the support he got, derive entirely from the situation we created with our puppet governments who were robbing those countries of resources and money. We were literally murdering farmers at the behest of United Fruit.

We continue similar policies there to this day under the guise of 'free trade'.

        Again, go f*ck yourselves.

      • Sparkie Arbuckle

I'm not a professor either, as I have indicated.

        • Greg in Oklahoma

I know you're not a Professor, Brainiac. Answer me this Professor, how come the people in the Congo and Bolivia didn't flock to join his revolution? In fact, the Foreign Minister of Bolivia summed up Che's revolution by saying, ""We’re not going to let anybody steal our country away from us. Nobody, at any time." Seems to me that Che was seen in Bolivia as a foreign aggressor trying to steal the country. The proof of that pudding is that Che's "revolution" was squashed in 11 months and had little popular support. You don't care about that though. I guess murder is OK if your hero is a leftist. After all, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. That said, the people of Bolivia rejected Che and his revolution. It sucked to be him but the brave men of the Second Ranger Battalion, Bolivian Army put paid his "revolutionary ideals". Why don't you go talk to them about his "mission"?

          • Sparkie Arbuckle

Quoting our puppets hardly makes the case. The fact remains that we were aggressors in central and south america well before Che.

When it comes to Africa, Cuba did a lot of good supporting the African independence fights against colonial Europe. It's sad to see you on the side of colonial oppressors. Should the US still be British, on your view?

          • Greg in Oklahoma

I expected to see you on the leftist "the US is evil side." Pay no attention to the fact that Che couldn't find support in a country he was there to "liberate." In your mind that makes the people there "puppets". You are one foul "human being. " Its clear that you are projecting your own black heart on us when you say we are "are apologists for murdering liars."

  • Greg in Oklahoma

Cuba did a lot of good supporting the African independence fights against colonial Europe.

Again, your grasp of history is lacking. Che's bungled campaign in the Congo was summed up by his fellow Cuban's thusly, "His rigid Marxism and tendency towards autocratic leadership caused the Africans to laugh at him and his Cuban subordinates to wonder what they were doing embroiled in African tribal warfare." Hardly "Colonial Oppression". I rather enjoyed this passage.

"Che's final debacle was in 1967 when he and his ragtag band of Cuban and Bolivian guerrillas were run to ground by the CIA and Bolivian Army. The Cubans spent their time in Bolivia unsuccessfully trying to recruit Bolivian peasants and mostly wandering around the jungle in separated groups looking for each other. As in the Congo, Che proved unable lead nor inspire the Cubans and Bolivians in fomenting a people's revolution in a country that may have wanted reform, but not to become the prison that Che helped to make out of Cuba."

This is your hero in his own words, "To execute a man we don't need proof of his guilt. We only need proof that its necessary to execute him. " I'm sorry that the people in Tanzania and Bolivia failed to see the advantage of supporting Che and the Revolution but maybe they don't feel like submitting their populace to the "good graces" of a man that feels all he needs to execute someone is the need to execute someone. I guess you have to be a "puppet" to deny the Revolution and the "leadership" of someone like Che!

    Viva Puppethood!
