Matt of Blackfive is one of the premier milbloggers. Today he reports that HBO is making a movie of Marine LtCol M. R. Strobl’s deeply moving story of escorting the body of Marine Lance Corporal Chance Phelps from Dover to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming for burial. Chance Phelps was killed in action during combat operations west of Baghdad in April of 2004.

The letter written by Lt Col. Strobl detailing this extraordinary journey is posted here. I would encourage everyone to read it, if only to re-acquaint yourself with the true meaning of the word honor.
