CEO’s Don’t See China As A Threat

But they do see protectionism and over-regulation as threats.

Chief executives from some of the largest financial service institutions peg “protectionism” as the single biggest threat to continued U.S. economic growth, and they also rank the regulatory environment as a top concern. . . .
Not surprisingly, the CEOs don’t share the concerns of many Democrats in Washington when it comes to China. A majority said they see China as an opportunity for U.S. business, while none labeled it as a threat. The CEOs also predicted that China will fuel global economic growth, with the U.S. just behind the Asian giant.

I see China hitting the economic wall soon, for several reasons.

They lack a real managerial class, since they are a Marxist society, and that type of society doesn’t produce managers. They will have to outsource big time in the very near future.

They have been betting the farm on their ability to manipulate the world currency market by undervaluing their currency. Soon, they will have to become a net importer, and then the sh*t will hit the fan. If they let their currency “float” to world standard, they will lose a significant portion of their sales to the rest of the world.

They absolutely depend on the rest of the world being the market for their goods, but no country has succeeded in the long run without a strong domestic market, and they will have to free their people to accomplish that; either way, we win.

Communist Chinese people will start realizing free enterprise. That will cause the worm to turn. Freedom has a way of changing nations.

If middle Iraq can get the people to lay down the guns and go to work they might recover. The Kurds up north are doing well. The two party religion is killing them. They just haven’t had freedom in the last 30 years.

    Robert108,

Excellent points! A free-market economy cannot exist in a society with a central command political structure. Without political rights and individual liberty even modest economic freedoms cannot survive, and sustained, long-term economic growth is impossible.
