Democrats on Healthcare: Now the Trillion Dollar Tribute to Teddy

Ah yes… It’s tragic times like these that pull our elected representatives together, weathering the storm of adversity under the unifying flag of beltway opportunism.
Earlier today a post was made on Madame Speaker Pelosi’s useage of the passing of Ted Kennedy to bolster support for Democratic healthcare reform.
While it’s far from surprising, the use of Senator Kennedy’s death as as support for governmentally run healthcare doesn’t seem to be limited to Madame Speaker Pelosi. Here’s what a few prominent liberals had to say about Kennedy, less than 24 hours after his death.

Sen. Robert Byrd, Democrat from West Virginia, said he hoped that when legislation has been signed into law, it “will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American.”
Andy Stern, president of SEIU: “Let us continue his cause. Let us take action this year to pass healthcare reform.”
Markos Moulitsas [DailyKOS]: “Honor Kennedy’s legacy by passing real health care reform.”

These sources taken, slightly abridged from James Pethokoukis’s great article over at Reuters.
I guess what I find odd about the left using Kennedy as leverage for governmentally run healthcare is that only after his passing has former Senator Ted Kennedy become the crux of this nationwide push.
Y’know… a push that has taken place entirely during a period of time in which Senator Kennedy was too infirm to show up for regular Congressional duties.

Ted “Swimmer” Kennedy, now (still) deceased, once called Obama, Osama. LOL!!!!!!!!! The Freudian slip shows that the democrats secretly know that Obama really is a Muslim.

If nothing else at least he is now “helping the economy” as he is now a shovel ready project.

Uh-huh. So, tell me Whiff, if Obama is a closet mooslim, and has been hiding his arab roots for his entire life, why has he chosen to associate with some of the most controversial, vitriolic and outright hateful names in American Christianity?

The "Obama's a closet Mooslim!" line died with the McCain campaign. Try death-panels, or some other more recent forwarded-email fad.

    …if Obama is a closet mooslim…

It's not so "closet" when you look at the part of his past that isn't being covered up; and if we knew the whole truth about him, there would be no doubt.

Cons need more level headed and intelligent people like Eddie….and McCain.

It would be a lot easier to see be reasonable with their arguments if their side wasn't infected with the loonies from the far right like R180 and Willhuntforhunkymen.

While he may not have been at the forefront of this current push, Kennedy has been been a major advocate of national healthcare since the Nixon era.

They can try to push this POS bill through, but they know every blue dog that votes for it is toast. Guaranteed.

Of course they will use the death of Sen. Kennedy to ram this healthcare mostrosity through congress—the Dem's and liberals have trotted out the death of John, and Robert and John jr. whenever it is to their advantage. It is now in their advantage to do so again—and they will.
Sometimes one has to ask, "Are Americans really the saps they appear to be?" Farewell to the Kennedys. To Sen. Edward M. Kennedy: may you rest in peace. Be assured that many of us will now rest in peace, as well.

Perhaps "Ted Kennedy care" should only extend to hydrophobia?

Old Ted never would of lasted this long under Obama care. Being that he was a drunk they might not of even insured him
