Capitol Police Official Request For McKinney Arrest Warrant

Whoa...

WASHINGTON — Capitol Hill police on Monday asked a federal prosecutor to approve an arrest warrant for Rep. Cynthia McKinney for her role in a scuffle with a police officer last week, the prosecutor's office confirmed.

Capitol Police had no immediate comment so it's not yet known whether the intent is to file felony or misdemeanor assault charges against McKinney, a DeKalb County Democrat.

McKinney's people are quick to respond:

Coz Carson, a spokesman for McKinney, said the requested warrant should be dismissed if "this is a prosecutor who's not a politician."

"Any prosecutor with any sense can look at this thing and understand that it's not something that should be blown out of proportion any further," Carson said.

Blow it out of proportion? Wasn't it McKinney who accused the Capitol Hill police of touching her "inappropriatley" and stopping her because she is a black woman? If you don't want to blow something out of proportion you don't start through around accusations of abuse and racism.

I hope she is arrested and charged. Hitting a cop is wrong, I don't care who you are.

Yikes. And I thought the left-wing outrage after Cheney’s hunting disaster was as bad as it could get.

A hunting accident isn’t the same as deliberately punching a cop.

McKinney comitted a crime and should face the consequences.

Does anyone seriously think that the town that re-elected Marion Barry--after a drug conviction--is going to provide a jury that would convict McKinney?  Sorry, but she’ll be out quicker than you can say "OJ Simpson," to name yet another who appears to have successfully played the race card.

I have no solution to this--maybe it’s simply a reflection of the fact that when common sense leaves the building, self-government is largely left defenseless.

She didn’t have her ID and she didn’t stop when asked by security.  She was wrong and that is now reason to hit a cop.  And to make it a race issue tells me a lot about her character.  Make her go through the judicial process, even if a jury of her peers will let her go.

My sentiments exactly, Mr. Miller.

Hasn’t she also been forcing Official Congressional Staffers to drive her aroundand do personal erands contrary to the law?

The fact she keeps having the exact same problem with security tells me she is using it as a wedge. Notice she had the publicity machine ready to roll on the same day this"incident" happened.

Rather than being excused from passing security checks, congresspeople, being "public servants" maybe should set an example for the rest of us:  I mean a good example, not the kind McKinney is setting.

Drudge is reporting that McKinney has now admitted she misused Congressional Funds. (Our money).  Is this "honkey police officer’ incident staged to make her  look like a victim?

The civil rights community better jetison this slimeball.  If they don’t I think it WOULD be fair to point out that she is one of their leaders.

It simply doesn’t matter, Whistler.  She’s loved by her constituents because of what she says...  just like Jackson, Kennedy, Sharpton, Bird.  They all play the card for the publicity and the media carries it in a way that:

1. Agitates us enough to watch.

2. Makes the perpetrator look good if they share your ideals in what they say, if not what they do.

But, she should be held accountable for her actions.

This is just another chapter of that big leftie book:  Get The President.  This racist administration has nothing better to do than to harass a black female dem congresswoman.  That’s the line, and the MSM is a willing messenger.

I like Robert108’s idea, and here’s one to flesh it out.  Any congressman who wants to go past security quickly can have their offices in a building where the guards don’t stop people.  Others have to go through regular security.

Either this arrangement would sober up some people, or (given DC’s reputation as a safe, comfortable city) we’d be free of some of our moonbats in Congress.

I’m personally not that worried that a security officer got slapped with a cell phone--an apology would be sufficient, I’d think.  It’s not like she took him down and gave him a concussion or anything, or even had that intent.  But since the poor guy was only working to make her office safe, I do think an apology to him would be appropriate.

And if she continues to call him a bigot, a caning, Singapore-style, woudl be appropriate.  That kind of thing can really impact a man’s employment prospects and so on, and is far more serious than slapping him with a cell phone.
