Can We Question Obama’s Judgment Yet?
As the Blagojevich hoopla intensifies, the question on everyone’s mind is: What did Obama and his people know and when did they know it? According to section 104 of the affidavit accompanying the complaint that put Blago in jail today the Guv is on the record saying that the Obama camp wasn’t interested in giving him anything for the appointment. Democrats had better hope, then, that it was a member of the Obama camp that reported Blago to the feds, because there is now no denying that they knew he was looking to cash in on some illegal quid pro quo.
But even if it turns out that Obama did the right thing and turned Blago in, isn’t it about time for us to start questioning Obama’s judgment?
According to Jack Tapper, Obama was instrumental in getting Blagojevich elected:
…it should be pointed out, Mr. Obama has a relationship with Mr. Blagojevich, having not only endorsed Blagojevich in 2002 and 2006, but having served as a top adviser to the Illinois governor in his first 2002 run for the state house.
That 2002 endorsement came at the same time that Axelrod had such serious concerns about whether Blagojevich was ready for governing he refused to work for his one-time client.
According to Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., Mr. Obama’s incoming White House chief of staff, Emanuel, then-state senator Obama, a third Blagojevich aide, and Blagojevich’s campaign co-chair, David Wilhelm, were the top strategists of Blagojevich’s 2002 gubernatorial victory.
Obama has had a relatively short tenure in politics, and during that time the people he’s kept closest to him have been:
Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright
William Ayers
Tony Rezko
Alexi Giannoulias
Now add Rod Blagojevich to the list.
These are people Obama surrounded himself with. People he helped obtain power, and people who helped him attain power.
Which speaks volumes about The One’s judgment, doesn’t it?
