Can Someone Explain To Me How These People Have The Right To Block A Federal Office?

Or any other business for that matter?

These are the Berkeley wackos physically blocking people from going into the Marine Corps recruiter’s office in Berkelely. How in the name of HELL do they have that right?

If these were protesters blocking abortion clinics they would be arrested in a red hot minute. Aside from that, where do they get the right to block ANY business, properly licensed and operated, from doing their job?

These people are deranged and dangerous.

Let me add this - and I hope those San Francisco cops read it: As far as I’m concerned those cops who stood by and watched those people physically block others from lawfully pursuing their rightful activities are a disgrace. It’s neglect of duty in its purest form.

They should all be fired - or at least, their supervisors should. I’m disgusted by what I saw. And guess what - I’ve been doing that job for 19 years now and I’ll be DAMNED if I would stand by and watch ANY group break the law at the expense of another NO MATTER WHAT my political feelings were about the situation.

I’m at least as disgusted by the inaction of the cops - it seems pure partisanship - as I am by the actions of those idiots in the orange jump suits.

My brother officers - I’m ashamed of you.

I’ll be danged Pilgrim… I swear, you just want my blood pressure to soar into some unusual digits? Luckily, I viewed this a couple days ago so I’m somewhat prepared for the audacity of these freaks of society.

Due to equal protection I’m thinking that officers that stood by are in violation of the law and therefor subject to arrest and prosecution. Am I wrong?

The day will come when traitors are shot on sight.  Or, if they demand “due process”, they will receive it between here and the nearest tree.

Patriots will put up with their silly shenanigans during peacetime, but when the shit hits the fan they will be the first to go.

Women and children, please stand behind the men—or be prepared to get run over.

Exactly what I said yesterday.  Would cops or anyone else stand by as anyone else blocked the entrance to abortion clinics AKA baby killer factories?
Blocking any entrance is illegal and in addition if it were a place of business, subject to civil penalties.  Sue the pants off these people just like the KKK years ago was taken down.

IF these cops don’t stand for the law they don’t stand for anything.

Secondly the guy in the suit was in a great position to open it up a bit with a nice shove.

No federal money for Berkely California and the Marine Corp should hire that suspended cop from Philly to work the front door.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Pilgrim, I read this on another site linking to this post:

“It’s a good thing they weren’t protesting in front of an abortion clinic or this might actually be a crime.”

I would have so given those people a choice.. move or get maced and then seen if the cops would have stayed neutral

This is the best recruiting strategy in YEARS. Young people who are inclined to join the Corps will be doubly inspired by this shit. And it is time for California Pro-Life to physically block all tax funded abortion clinics, it is now, clearly, legal to do so.

2H9, I wish you were right, but the law that prevents abortion clinic blockades is federal--and yes, probably a violation of the principles of federalism.

So we’re left with whether the Berkeley city council decides that blocking a non-favored enterprise violates tha law.  Given that this is a town without any laws against public indecency, I would have to guess ‘no,’ and hence the Marines are left with a lawsuit against Code Pink for interfering with their property rights.

To be filed in Beserkeley, and a jury to be selected there as well.

Sorry, but reality here is that the Marines are hosed, I think.

The individual officers are probably not guilty of a crime per se. What they’re guilty of is partisanship and deliberately ignoring a crime in progress.

To physically block someone from lawfully entering a building can, in many jurisdictions, be considered a form of assault.

And to physically stop someone from leaving a building could be considered a form of false imprisonment. I can’t stop you from exiting a dwelling. I’m holding you against your will if I do.

Those cops at the scene were probably under orders to take action only if physical attacks were taking place. In a nutshell: they picked and chose what laws to enforce.

The whole thing pisses me off to no end. I have personally kept unlawful protesters away from David Duke, who I detest, because he had lawful authority to be where he was. I agreed with what the protesters were saying but it made no difference.

On the other hand, I also had the pleasure of ordering my officers to remove he and his entourage from a parade route during his run for Senate because he didn’t have a parade permit. Heh.

My point is that we as sworn officers shouldn’t EVER pick sides. The law is the law.
