California Supreme Court Nixes San Francisco Gun Ban

Hey liberals, California gets it.

(04-10) 05:04 PDT San Francisco, CA (AP)—A ruling by the state Supreme Court has brought an end to San Francisco’s attempts to ban handguns in the city.

In a ruling Wednesday, the court unanimously rejected the city’s appeal of a lower-court ruling that sharply limited the ability of localities to regulate firearms.

The ruling deals a final blow to Proposition H, an initiative voters passed in November of 2005.

The ordinance would have forbidden San Francisco residents to possess handguns, as well as prohibit the manufacture, sale or distribution of any type of firearms or ammunition in the city.

The fact that American citizens in all 50 states have an individual right to keep and bear arms is undeniable.  If certain elements in this country want it to be otherwise they should seek to amend the constitution using the processes laid out for that in the document itself.

Thinking they can simply pass laws deny citizens this right and hoping that judges affirm it on appeal has absolutely nothing to do with the principles of federalism and democracy this country was founded upon.

But the real question is, will the US Supreme Court be able to use this case as precedent when they issue a ruling on District of Columbia v. Heller?

I was living in California when Dianne Feinstein was mayor of SF and attempted to ban handguns back then.
I was listening to SF news talk radio KCBS when Di-Fi’s plan was announced. The very next story aired was of a man who robbed a liquor store with a sawed off shotgun. A felony to make, a felony to possess, a felony to carry, a felony to use in the commission of a crime, and yet, another anti-gun law was going to make us all safer and crime free! Yeah. Right! And rain makes applesauce!

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

So that is what the chain explosion was! Leftard heads popping. Now, if USSC will smack DC in the ass we can move on with fighting crime on the individual level.

California did something right for a change!

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Don’t forget, this is the same city which legalized gay marriage and was among the first to declare itself a sanctuary city. Not to mention refusing to let the United States Marines film a commercial there and banning plastic grocery bags.
They did fail - much to their grief - in their effort to ban caffein.

The stakes are high. Whether the issue is the economy, or energy, or the federal courts or national security, the right answers are coming not from the Democrats, but from the Republicans.
