CAIR Is Going After Michael Savage The Way Sharpton Went After Don Imus…..

.......and I find myself in the difficult position of having to side with someone that I think is a loudmouthed jerk and is to the right what Rosie O’Donnell is to the left.

A small difference between the two is that Savage, rude, blustering, overbearing, and arrogant as he is, is very often right in his positions on many issues, from Islam to conservative values. My problems with him stem from that fact that he takes those issues to the far right and has become one of those that the left can point at as though he represents all of us.

He doesn’t. But when he said this in a rant about Islam a few days ago CAIR begain a campain to intimidate his advertisers into pulling their products from his show:

“I’m not gonna put my wife in a hijab. And I’m not gonna put my daughter in a burqa. And I’m not gettin on my all-fours and braying to Mecca. And you could drop dead if you don’t like it. You can shove it up your pipe. I don’t wanna hear anymore about Islam. I don’t wanna hear one more word about Islam. Take your religion and shove it up your behind. I’m sick of you.”

“What kind of religion is this? What kind of world are you living in when you let them in here with that throwback document in their hand, which is a book of hate. Don’t tell me I need reeducation. They need deportation. I don’t need reeducation. Deportation, not reeducation. You can take C-A-I-R and throw ‘em out of my country. I’d raise the American flag and I’d get out my trumpet if you did it. Without due process. You can take your due process and shove it.”

“What sane nation that worships the U.S. constitution, which is the greatest document of freedom ever written, would bring in people who worship a book that tells them the exact opposite. Make no mistake about it, the Quran is not a document of freedom. The Quran is a document of slavery and chattel. It teaches you that you are a slave.”

I don’t have a problem with anything he said there. In fact, I agree with most of it although I would have put it in a different way. But CAIR, of course, is calling it hate speech and screeching about the bigotry of not wanting to kneel down to Islam.

CAIR is now using the same tactics Al Sharpton and his crew used on Don Imus. And they’ve met with some small success. Office Max has pulled their advertising from his nationally syndicated show, and I’m sure that some of the other easily intimidated and spineless advertisers will follow suit. By the way, I know that personal boycotts mean little and are in fact sort of silly but I won’t buy so much as a paper clip from Office Max ever again. Let’s let their massive Muslim market carry their business.

This is dangerous for every talk show host out there. And I hope their effort will fall flat and that Savage survives their attempt to silence him. He’s a rude, ugly clown who shouts down callers who don’t agree with everything he spouts but - it’s his show. He can do that. And since CAIR has put me in a position whether do defend this idiot or agree with their attempts to crush what is truly free speech I’m just going to have to side with Savage.

By the way, I was looking for some information on this yesterday when I stumbled on the fact that whoever puts his website together used one of my headlines verbatim in an article on his site. They even linked to the same article I used as a basis for my column. And didn’t give Say Anything as much as a nod, which makes me dislike Savage just a teeny bit more.

But - he’s right when it comes to the issue about Islam and he has the right to say what he thinks.

And CAIR, as far as I’m concerned, can pound sand.
