Bush Slams Obama From Israel On Willingness To Talk With Terrorists

Ouch…

I just heard Obama on the radio reacting to this by saying that Bush should “apologize to the American people” for politicizing the 60th anniversary of the Jewish state.  Then he went on to say that Reagan negotiated with Russia’s “evil empire.”

The problem here, of course, is that Obama wants to negotiate with people who are actively engaging in terrorism against Israelis and others across the world.  This does nothing but acknowledge that such acts of terrorism, if sustained long enough, will make us want to give in and negotiate.  Which, in turn, simply encourages more acts of terrorism by other factions who want to get us to talk to them as well.

It’s ludicrous, naive policy and something tells me that the Israelis don’t really mind Bush using the anniversary of their country to call Obama out on it.

Comments

One cannot be both a supporter of Israel and an Obama supporter.  The two cannot be reconciled.

The Democrats are going ballistic over Bush’ speech, although he never used Obama’s name and later even denied he had Obama in mind. Bush could have been thinking about Carter, The Crown Prince of Appeasement. It was an appropriate comment at the appropriate place and time.

Kudos to President Bush.  He has been a staunch supporter of Isreal (rightfully so) and is completely right in his assessment.

I saw Romney on Fox this morning and think he was corrent in saying that when you throw a rock over a fence, the dog that barks is the one that was hit.

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

I think we just got a clue to one of McCain’s major campaign issues in the Fall.

Obama sure is paranoid. Either that or just reeeeeally self centered?

Boy, I hope Bush and McCain keep saying the same thing over and over again.  Bush McCain, Bush McCain, Bush McCain.  Works for me.  But how are the other republicans going to throw him under the bus when McCain and Bush are going to have a love fest through the election.

Obama Wright, Obama Wright, Obama Wright. Makes as much sense! Obama Ayers, Obama Ayers, Obama Ayers.

Works for me.

Heh.

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Zsa Zsa.  Ignorant.  Defensive.  Notice how he completely avoided any questions about a week ago.  He is incapable of thinking on the level to be President of the United States of America.  Like you said, a Jimmy Carter.

Did Bush ever say he was talking about Obama?

Electnixon,

An absolutely brilliant point!  In his haste to defend himself and what he really thinks, Obama has witlessly fallen into a huge trap.  And it really makes no difference whether it was deliberately set by George Bush or not.

Bush is in Israel to celebrate the 60th anniversary of that country’s founding, an event which took place in response to the Holocaust perpetrated by Hitler and Nazi Germany.  Iran’s president has denied the Holocaust ever happened, while stating his desire to repeat the horror by “wiping Israel off the map.”

In all likelihood, Mr. Bush’s remarks were aimed squarely at the Israelis themselves, nearly all of whom lost family members in the Holocaust, and if any sort of criticism was intended it was aimed at former President Carter, and the self-serving Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

Obviously, Obama would like to be thought of as a real “player” ready for the big time.  Particularly as he has nothing in the way of experience or accomplishment to point to.  The one thing he can conceivably point to is character, an issue he himself has raised, but one which has been sorely damaged of late by Wright, Ayers, Rezko, and his wife Michelle.

Now, however, in their zeal to market him as the antithesis of anything and everything associated with Mr. Bush, Obama and his minions have wound up endorsing the very sort of appeasement that begat the Nazi Holocaust in the first place and as a consequence the state of Israel.

Had Obama come out in support of Mr. Bush’s remarks, tempering them ever so slightly, but recognizing the nuance of the Israeli anniversary and the tinderbox of recent events in Lebanon by the very Hezbollah terrorists whose Iranian masters Obama wants to meet with, Obama might have gone a long way toward satisfying concerns about his character and his leadership.  Instead, he and the Democrats have only renewed concerns about the direction in which he seems determined to take this country if elected.

If one argues against someone who makes a case… a historically correct case… against appeasement, there is no other conclusion but that one is arguing in favor of appeasement.

That Obama has in effect endorsed appeasement only confirms the suspicions of those who’ve questioned his qualifications.  “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” is a phrase variously attributed to Sun Tze, ancient Sunni Arabs, and Don Vito Corleone.  With friends like Pelosi and Carter, the rookie Obama is in no need of enemies.

Those “intense negotiations” with Libya’s Ghadaffi were abruptly brought to a conclusion when the sons of Saddam Hussein were killed in a gunfight with US Army Rangers and Force Recon Marines.

Ghadaffi, whose cancer is in remission, sought assurances that his son would be allowed to “inherit” his position as ruler, as is the Arag way.  In exchange, he surrendered the joint Libyan/Iraqi/Egyptian nuclear weapons program hidden in the south Libyan mountains, a program largely paid for and staffed by Saddam using money from the corrupt UN Oil-for-Food program.

(Incidentally, if read carefully the full report of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, you’ll notice that a quantity of “yellowcake” uranium from Niger, somewhere between 400 and 1000 tons, was unaccounted for.  The report even mentions a low level intelligence report that just such a shipment was possibly stored in a warehouse in Gabon.  That report, and the unaccounted for “yellowcake” were never followed up on.  But the most likely guess is that missing uranium was smuggled out of Niger and into Libya.  The uranium recovered from Libya, along with all the equipment involved in the WMD program was shipped to the US.)

Bat One.  Good summary.  Some seem to have problems with words.  Typical of those who attempt to deceive.  Meeting and greeting--an attempt at understanding the peoples of another country controlled by evil men is not negotiating with terrorists.  Trying to “buy” cooperation by giving something that you do not own like Neville did is what liberals are good at.

Well I guess that would be ol Dumbya cause he called it negotiations in his state of the union.

Meeting and greeting--an attempt at understanding the peoples of another country controlled by evil men is not negotiating with terrorists.

RZ, what would we do with the new found ‘understanding’...negotiate a non hostility pact perhaps? Maybe we could trade nuclear technology for mangoes.

That would be nice.

RBB,

Thanks… but no thanks!  As a matter of principle, I don’t read HuffPo or Kos, no matter what videos are posted.  ‘Course, I don’t read FreeRepublic either.  So maybe that makes me “fair and balanced”???

Listen… while we’re talking about videos, if it would help you with that list I’d be willing to dredge up a vid of Bill Clinton with his lower lip just quivvering’ and tears all welled up in his eyes, talking about bringing “those responsible to justice.” I think he meant the USS Cole bombing… or was it the two US embassies that were destroyed by terrorist bombs in Tanzania and Kenya… or maybe he meant the Khobar Towers bombing that killed all those US servicemen in Saudia Arabia… or perhaps he was referring to the first WTC bombing in New York.

Never mind which terrorist attack against the US he was responding to… that disreputable capon’s reaction was always the same anyway, wasn’t it?

Obama assumes that everything is about him.  Bush’s statements could have been general or may have been directed at Carter or Pelosi.

...the Obama campaign, showing a thickness of skin which can be measured in angstroms*, wailed that Bush was accusing Obama of favoring appeasement in dealing with Israel’s enemies.

How Barack decided that the President was talking about him, still mystifies me.
...I assumed the President was talking about Jimmy Carter.
