Burglars Target Gun Owner Listed On Newspaper’s Database

screenshot-journal-news-map

A seventy year old man and his property put in danger probably because of the political agenda of a newspaper editor?

A White Plains residence pinpointed on a controversial handgun permit database was burglarized Saturday, and the burglars’ target was the homeowner’s gun safe.

At least two burglars broke into a home on Davis Avenue at 9:30 p.m. Saturday but were unsuccessful in an attempt to open the safe, which contained legally owned weapons, according to a law enforcement source. One suspect was taken into custody, the source said.

The gun owner was not home when the burglary occurred, the source said. The victim, who is in his 70s, told Newsday on Sunday that he did not want to comment while the police investigation continues.

If it can be proved, definitively, that these burglars targeted this man because his private information was listed by the newspaper, I wonder what the legal liability might be?

Ah, bore-bore, contrary to the possible belief of a superstition-riddled primitive, guns do not radiate magical forces that stave off evil. Someone must actually be present holding a loaded one in his or her hand. If it is known—and it can be known—that said individual is not present, burglars can indeed–if they wear amulets protecting themselves against magical gun vibes–safely steal the guns. If I sound condescending, believe me, you’ve got it coming.

People are born with mentalities that one finds in other times and places. I have known people who are very much Victorians, others who are straight from the 18th century, and still others that have medieval or even Stone Age consciousnesses. Very few are born with a mentality that can actually be called modern (i.e., represent in their outlook and intellect the range of cultural achievement by humanity over the millennia). Liberals are atavistic—many of them have mindsets that are more often found in primitive societies: a predilection for communism, animistic beliefs about objects, prey to emotional states, inability to clearly separate dream-life and fantasy from reality, etc., etc. They make up the long dragon-tail of human history that we must drag along with us, even though it is the part of the organism that produces nothing but shit.

As a history student, my take is that environment + heredity + viable nutrition + early educational influences + strong role models = our adult selves.

If each one of those factors is a Positive, the person will likely be a valued and important member in their place and time on earth. As each factor turns negative, the person offers less and less to those they touch. If all the factors are poisoned, the result is probably a servant of evil let loose on the world

BTW—Do you know a source for a detailed description of the Charles Whitman/Texas Bell Tower mass killing? About all I know is that one of several guns he had was an M-16 carbine. I cannot find a really detailed account. From what I have read, he used relatively deliberate fire, i.e., from his position and the target situation he could just as well have used a bolt-action rifle. Although I am quite sure he used a ‘scope, I also have not seen that mentioned.

            Whitman’s arsenal
            (Austin Police Department)

In his old Marine footlocker Charlie packed an array of supplies. He brought a radio, 3 gallons of water, gasoline, a notebook and pen, a compass, a hatchet and hammer, food, two knives, a flashlight and batteries, and various other implements which made it clear he was prepared for a lengthy standoff. Additionally, he packed guns—a 35 caliber Remington rifle, a 6mm Remington rifle with a scope, a 357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolver, a 9mm Luger pistol, and a Galesi-Brescia pistol. Later that morning he would buy two more weapons, a 30 caliber M-1 carbine and a 12-gauge shotgun. As he packed he refined his plan. At 5:45 a.m. he called Kathy’s supervisor at Southwestern Bell and told her his wife was sick and wouldn’t be reporting to work that day.

Yes. Very helpful. This mass shooting appears to be qualitatively quite different from those usually cited. It appears that Whitman did indeed shoot very deliberately and—as an ex-Marine–very accurately. Pretty much all kill-shots. He could have done as much with a bolt-action rifle. His targets were relatively scattered, some requiring concentrated accuracy. Kinda reminded me of the Marine Drill Sergeant’s rifle lecture in “Full Metal Jacket.”

          • $8194357

I remember seeing a documentry about it a long while back.
The police department didn;t have any body or a weapon who could match Whitmans shooting skills. good ole boys were coming out of the woodwork with their 7mm magnum scoped rifles shooting back at him with little or no success…He was a heck of a marksman for sure…..

I can’t believe he can withstand my 50 cal. That is the reason for it. Long range threats that are not safe to let get close. But the grenade launcher under an m-16 would also do wonders, but the government thinks you being able to defend yourself is a bad idea.

Read the whole thing and it’s as chilling now as it was then. I was living in a suburb of Chicago in 1966, where a different kind of psycho named Richard Speck killed 8 student nurses in a night of horror that rocked our world. In 1963, JFK was murdered and then in 1968, MLK and RFK followed. I was 16 by then and already knew that this life was darker than anyone wanted to talk about.

In Whitman’s case, I think the drugs prescribed sent him over the edge. In Newtown, no one has really discussed the drugs that had been given the shooter to “help” his condition. Our nation is on pills and under government/medical supervision, many have been fatally poisoned and many have been victims of this ma$$ over-medication.

It is my studied opinion LBH we are no longer a free nation.

It started when Woodrow Wilson gave international globalist bankers control of American currency in 1913 as the government had “incorperated” itself a few decades before.

We went out from under Constitional law and under soviet style corperate “ownership” law.

The same bankers purposely crashed the market in 29 and stole alot of generations labor and property.

FDR fleshed out the central planning soviet system and confiscated gold from the populace to be turned into these same Federal Reserve Banks and the fiat debt ponzi has had a death grip on Americans since.

In the sixties JFK issued and EO to start printing Treasury silver certificates again and was shot 6 months later. As far as I know that EO was never recinded but “NO” Federal politician since has strayed near the Feds power over the “corperate government”.

            In 1993…
alot of crap went down in 93 folks are blind to…

The Federal Government filed chapter 11 and we have been owned by our debtors everysince..They now want to take over ownership and need us old timers out of the way who still believe we are a nation under the Original Constitution and not the crony capitalist corrupt incorperated government who are trying to steal the farm out from under us once again.

Globalism and global governance has been having its way here in America for at least 100 years and indoctrinated socialist “corperate citizens” can’t see the forest for all those dang trees..

          • LastBestHope

We are as free as it gets on this planet. This nation has done more for individual freedom than any in history and it’s my faith that it will continue to do so far into the future. For all of our problems, and they are as numerous as the sins of humanity, we are still the last best hope of civilization….no other nation on this earth is even a close second. But of course, America will never be truly free because as a People, we refuse the Lord.
Jesus came to tell us all that this life is not the end of life and that our struggles are but preparation for glory. He then proceeded to Show us what he meant on the Cross. That unfathomable gift was given to us by God thru his Son and provides us with spiritual freedom….we’re free of the fear of our own death.

  • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

This just proves that gun ownership does not reduce crime. In fact, it looks as though we can clearly state that if you are known to be a household who has guns, you are more likely to be burglarized.

    Let the spin begin idiots.

Let Flamer begin his sock puppetry.

    • Hal109

Typical liberal logic. Blame the homeowner, not the burglar who was aided by a radical left newspaper.

      • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Stating a statistical fact is not blaming anyone. What we see Rob arguing is that once burglars know you have guns in the house, they make every attempt to rob you.

Gun ownership does not reduce crime, we know now that it increases it.

        • HG

Hanni, legal gun ownership isn’t crime nor does it increase crime. It’s my constitutional right and it allows people to defend themselves from criminals who do not legally possess or legally own firearms. The President ain’t getting our guns, H. No matter what.

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

This article suggests that once criminals know a home is armed, they make an effort to rob it. There goes your argument that increasing gun ownership reduces crime.

          • HG

You’re a real idiot, H. Gun ownership no more increases crime than any other property ownership. Does owning a car increase crime? Cars are stolen all the time. If someone is looking to steal something, they go where they can find it. That in no way argues that ownership increases crime. Pull your liberal head our of your leftist backside.

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Thanks for confirming that owning a gun can increase a burglars desire to rob you, GH. You really nailed that one, HG.

You probably thought you made a good argument, didn’t you?

          • Wes

A question to be asked is, do the criminals wait until no one is home to burglarize the home so the guns can be stolen?

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Oh, that should make Americans feel safe; Burglars break into your armed home only to await your return so they can kill you with your own weapon.

LOL, nutters crack me up too.

          • Wes

Nice spin to try and cover up your idiocy. Do you think burglars walk into a gun shop and buy their guns, or do you think that the guns they have, or will have have been stolen from someone’s house?

“Thanks for confirming that owning a gun can increase a burglars desire to rob you”

Everyone is right about you. You are a fu*king moron!

“Do you think burglars walk into a gun shop and buy their guns, or do you think that the guns they have, or will have have been stolen from someone’s house?” – Idiot Wes

Good point!!! Fewer criminals would have guns if they weren’t stealing them from legal gun owners.

I know you didn’t realize you proved my point, but you just proved that if fewer Americans had guns, fewer criminals would also, because their supply comes from the legal owners.

Dry up the supply and fewer bad guys have guns.

            Now F-off.

          • Wes

“Good point!!! Fewer criminals would have guns if they weren’t stealing them from legal gun owners.” Willie the moron.

            Thanks for agreeing with me.
When will you be surrendering your semi automatic weapons, or will you just continue being a hypocrite?

          • slackwarerobert

No NY needs a “good stand your ground, or hunt them down” law, to thin the hordes of crooks you have. Carry in subways is a must also. That citizen proved you can empty your gun in a crowded subway and nobody gets hurt that shouldn’t be.

          • slackwarerobert

Yes, because they know you cannot take the gun with you when you leave the home in NYC.

          • Hal109

We also have learned that liberals don’t want to let people know that they are not armed because it makes them an easy target. You see, if the criminal doesn’t know if you own a firearm, they don’t know if they should attempt their crime when you are there or when your gone.

The Petit family might all be alive today if they took prudent measures to protect themselves. Instead they were driven to the bank where they gave the perps a large sum of money, only to be raped and killed. That is the liberal way, I want no part of it!

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

That myth has been exposed as false. When you have burglars targeting gun owners, you know you’ve lost that argument. LOL.

Gun ownership when you are denied having the gun was the problem, if he wore the gun like you do everyplace else in the country it wouldn’t be left home all alone and defenseless. That is why the paper is in trouble, they know you can’t take the gun out of the home so it was foreseeable that the thieves would steal them because the people have to go to work sometime.

Only an idiot thinks owning a gun reduces crime. GUN USE reduces crime every time. You have to load it carry it, and shoot the criminal for it to reduce crime.

  • Snarkie

There will only be liability if the burglary was a reasonably foreseeable result of publishing the information. Likely a fail. What would the damages be? A pittance. Yawn.

    • slackwarerobert

Damages would be massive. You try and get a gun in NYC. Plus he has to get one with a 7 round mag because of the new law, they don’t even make them. Hopefully he sues the city for refusing him a carry permit also, it couldn’t be stolen if it was on his hip.
