Buchannanites At American Conservative Call Petraeus A Sycophant
And Republicans are apparently supposed to be just as outraged as when MoveOn.org called Petraeus a traitor. Which is silly for two reasons.
- Calling someone a sycophant is different from calling someone a traitor. It’s still not a criticism Petraeus deserves, but it’s also quite rise to the level of “traitor.”
- The American Conservative is a magazine founded by Pat Buchanan and occupies the fringes of the conservative movement. Essentially just a notch or two above the Birchers.
The simple truth here is that the folks at American Conservative aren’t working in concert with Republicans in promote an agenda. MoveOn.org meets with Democrat leadership weekly to “coordinate efforts.”
That makes all the difference in the world.
