British Prime Minister Gordon Brown Wants To Negotiate With The Taliban

My question is: What exactly does he hope to accomplish by negotiating with terrorist monsters?

Think about it logically for a moment.  The divide causing the conflict in Afghanistan breaks down like this: Western forces want a safe, secure and democratic Afghanistan while the Taliban wants a return to a theocratic regime complete with roving squads of thugs who beat women for not dressing or behaving appropriately.

Where’s the common ground?  Where’s the room for talks?  How do you negotiate with people who, literally, hate your culture and everything you stand for?  Even things as universally desirable as representative government?

You can’t, which is why Brown’s desire for “talks” with the Taliban is little more than a bunch of tripe from a naive peacenik.  If it were possible to negotiate with the Taliban it would have happened by now, but the group is little more than a loose grouping of religious zealots without enough control of its own factions to enforce a cease fire if it even wanted to.

There’s a bunch of Taliban wandering about the high dessert plains of south central Afghanistan, having been kicked out of Musa Qala by Afghan and NATO forces a couple days ago.  They’d probably welcome some hot tea and a warm tent.  The weather is getting brutal and they can’t get back over the mountains into Pakistan.

Compromise.  Then, in the near future, when their threats must be negotiated away again, compromise some more…

and so on.... and so on…

WOOF, get your head out of the gutter. The subject is about “negotiating” with people who literally want

a theocratic regime complete with roving squads of thugs who beat women for not dressing or behaving appropriately

You’re thinking about making money in a subject like that? Come on, get serious.

Brown does not care what the Taleban does to the children and women of Afghanistan. He is a social liberal, and an elitist. The deaths of a bunch of wogs bothers him not a wit, just as Neville Chamberlain did not care what the Germans did to the peasants of Europe. Brown is just another racist.
