Britain Issues Global Warming Report, Media Goes Nuts

The Brits have released a government report, written in part under the advisement of Al Gore of all people, which apparently forecasts dire economic consequences if global warming is not checked.
The media, of course, have responded with their usual level of objectivity and even-handedness:

Right.
Of course, global warming could also be little more than the sort of climate trend that has taken place here on earth for billions of years and will probably continue unabated whatever actions we humans take to try and change it. But then, “Global maybe sorta devastate economy if a large number of controversial scientific conclusions turn out to be correct” doesn’t make quite as snappy a headline.

Another response from the “media” to global warming was posted by Jonah Goldberg on The Corner this AM:

BANGOR, Maine, Oct. 30 (UPI) — The general manager of two TV stations in Maine has ordered his news department to stop covering global warming until “Bar Harbor is underwater.”

Michael Palmer told the joint news staff of WVII and WFVX in an e-mail that global warming stories are like “‘the killer African bee scare’ from the 1970s or, more recently, the Y2K scare when everyone’s computer was going to self-destruct.”

A copy of the e-mail was sent to The New York Times, which said Palmer did not respond to a request for comment. A former staff member told the newspaper Palmer’s e-mail went out after the stations broadcast a report on Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Palmer called the news report a commercial for Gore. He said the global warming issue had “evolved from hard science into hard politics” and “this science is far from conclusive.”

    Climate Normals for Today
    Observed Record Year
    Temp. High 75 ° 1950
    Temp. Low 10 ° 1991

Looks like “global warming” peaked in 1950.

“realitybased”bob spews, Concern expressed for our environment, nutters go nuts.

Concern raised about the agenda of the “environmentalists” and those who like to call names in lieu of an argument offer nothing substantive.

a great percentage of the people in the MSM are nothing more than Global Warming agitators. ..they are also going banana over some conservative Evangelical Christians (e.g. Pat Robertson et al) throughing their support behind lobbying our government to recognize Global Warming and the immense(!) effect humans have on it.

The regulations to try and gain a foothold on the currently unproven phenomenon known as Global Warming would cause far greater damage to any nation’s economy.

Such as what you’d find in Kyoto.

Global warming scares create a potentially global-scale money grab for socialist gov’ts, orgs and policies.

The real humorous part of the headline is that lefties want the economy to go bad; then everyone can go on welfare and become dependent on govt. That is their wet dream.

  • robert108

The globalwarmingist extremists are the real nutters here.

“Global warming could devastate economy” goes a bit further than “expressed” concern for our environment.
