Bribe-Taking Democrat Gets Elected By Peers To Homeland Security Committee

Wonderful…

WASHINGTON (CNN)—The House Democratic Caucus voted on Tuesday night to give Rep. William Jefferson, D-Louisiana, a seat on the House Homeland Security Committee. This comes after the caucus stripped Jefferson of his seat on the powerful Ways and Means committee last June.

Jefferson is entangled in a federal bribery investigation related to his dealings with a telecommunications company. Federal investigators found $90,000 in cash in his freezer in 2005 after Jefferson allegedly accepted a $100,000 bribe from an FBI informant.

Just to sum up the Democrat thinking on this issue, Jefferson’s legal woes are enough to give him the boot from the Ways and Means committee, but not bad enough from giving him a seat on a committee that overseas Homeland Security?

I guess that tells us just how seriously the Dems take national security in the first place.

Update: According to House Republican Whip Roy Blunt the GOP is going to make a big deal out of this.

As well they should.

This has nothing to do with the genuine care of our national security. This is in-your-face “eff you” politics from the dems (and the left) to all of the rest of us.

This is obsurd and I agree and second what Pilgrim said!...All those promises Pelosi and the democrats made are suddenly forgotten the moment they take office!

What I find appalling is that the left, particularly those who run blogs like catboxmusings think that they are ethical and above reproach. They hold the belief that they really are better and thus without fault.

When Duke Cunningham was busted for taking bribes he went to jail where he belonged. I understand that William Jefferson has not been convicted, yet, he will be and still the liberals find a place to put him rather than leave him languishing ‘off stage’.  What this demonstrates is the liberal belief that a liberal criminal is better than a law abiding Republican. How detached from reality do you have to be to reach that point, both here in North Dakota, and in Washington?
