Breaking News Global Warming Turns 12,000 Years Old

Is this too obvious?

MONTREAL (AFP) - An enormous ice shelf broke away from Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic last year, researchers said, warning it could be another symptom of global warming.

The 66-square-kilometer (25.5-square-mile) ice island tore away from Ellesmere, a huge strip of land in the Canadian Arctic close to Greenland.

The break occurred in August 2005 and was so violent that it caused tremors that were detected by Canadian seismographs 250 kilometers (155 miles) away.

“This loss is the biggest in 25 years, but it continues the loss that occurred within the last century,” Copland told AFP, saying 90 percent of the the ice cover had been lost since the area was discovered in 1906.

“The breakup of the ice cover on Ellesmere Island has been going on for 12,000 years, but it seems to have accelerated in recent years which is another indicator, among many others, of warming of the entire Arctic cryosphere,” he said, referring to low-temperature elements of weather such as ice and snow. (Emphasis Mine)

So lets see.  The ice up there has been receding for 12,000 years apparently since the last ice age.  We’ve got observational data that it’s been receding constantly in the last 100 years.  Twenty five years ago (prior to the latest warming trend) there was an even larger break of the ice shelf.  Since we’ve only observed 100 of the 12,000 years (less than one percent) of the warming period we don’t really know what to look for.

I find it amazing that the narcissist global warming nuts believe that we’re responsible for a warming trend that’s occurred the last 12,000 years.  There are greater forces involved in the global climate than we who amount to a few ants in the greater scheme of things.

I must point out that the warm period between ice ages seems to last 10-12,000 years.  It looks to me that we’re due for an ice age.  “Global Warming” may be a good thing.
