Bonds Indicted For Perjury, Obstruction For Lying About Use Of Steroids

Good.

Though, to be fair, I’m not sure steroid use should be illegal.  Or that the use of it in professional the business of the US Senate.  As far as baseball is concerned, they either need to let steroids be used by everyone or ban it in a strict and effective manner.

But those things won’t deter me from enjoying a bit of delicious, delicious schadenfreude in seeing Barry on trial for being a cheating juicer.

Comments

I have mixed feelings.

1) I cannot ever take any pleasure in the downfall or misfortunes of others, no matter what I think of them personally. I feel sad that such a gifted athelete might have such low regard for the rules of baseball and the court that he might end up in jail. I hate to see a career ruined by such bad judgment and having such poor friends and family that did not confront him when he first started, to help him from making such a mistake.
2) I think it is wrong for Bonds to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame without, at a minimum, having an asterisk by his name, indicating his record is tainted, if he knowingly used performance enhancing drugs.
3) If such drugs are ever approved, and I hope they are not, then how can we ever honestly say the atheletes broke the records of those atheletes that made their records on skill alone?

I agree with you Neiman but being a female I seriously have to take the golden opportunity when it’s handed to me to say “I TOLD YOU SO!!!!” to all those who doubted the steroid controversy.

Regardless of whether steroids are / are not legal, or should / should not be legal, the fact of the matter is that it’s against league rules.  Even if steroids were legal, it would still be the right of the league to declare them illegal for use by players participating in MLB, and to do so without congressional intervention.

He will not be on trial for being a “cheating juicer,” he’s going to be on trial for perjury and obstruction of justice allegations.

Steroids should be banned by the MLB, and anyone caught using them should be tossed out of the game for life.  I agree, however, that there was really no reason for Congress to get involved.  In theory at least, they’ve got much more important things to be doing.

Barry has never been a media buddy or an ass kisser. Because of this, he is being singled out for allegedly doing something that most of baseball allegedly did at the time. Every game won and every record set during this time has to be stricken if you do it to Barry.

The trial has not begun. Remember what happened at Duke before you burn the witch.

ews48,

I find your comments defending Barry B*nds behavior deliciously ironic.  As Dave notes above,

...he’s going to be on trial for perjury and obstruction of justice allegations.

Which is exactly the same charges some of you were so gleeful about when the accused was “Scooter” Libby.
